A meeting in Harlem Posted by: McQ

Seems there's a bit of a food fight going on in the left blogosphere about a meeting recently had in Harlem by our first black president. Apparently Bill Clinton met with 20 leading lefty bloggers but managed to break the first commandment of liberalism: Thou shalt be diverse.
These are the 20 liberal bloggers that met with Bill Clinton in Harlem. As you can see, not one of them is black or latino.
Take a look for yourself, she's right. That, of course (was there any doubt), set off a blogwar between variousfactions in the leftosphere with Ann Althouse fanning the flames. Claims and counter-claims flew. Petulance and pettiness were the rule of the day.
But hey, all is not lost. I'm sure, to paraphrase Howard Dean, if you included the wait staff, there were probably plenty of minorities in the room.
Heh ... I love the left. It provides such a target rich environment.

Oliver Willis was invited and could not attend, he is a black blogger, by the way. This was the first of many meetings that will include bloggers of whatever ethnicity that bloggers happen to be. Also, this was certainly not a WASP’s only group as the article infers, while there was only one black blogger invited to THIS meeting and no Hispanics invited to THIS meeting, there was a diversity of ethnicities.
The goofy thing is that if half the bloggers were black and Hispanic, this would be ignored, since seeing the Clinton’s in a multicultural environment is a common occurance, or if mentioned, you would accuse the Clinton’s of rounding up people of color for a PC photo op.
I give this posting a F for intellectual honesty.
I never voted for Clinton, and never really liked him, but as the end of his Presidency arrived, I realized that he was a competent chief executive, and today, I would say that Clinton is a better executive that GWB by an order of magnitude.
As an aside, I will not be voting for Hillary Clinton, I will be pushing for almost every possible candidate before Hillary. I don’t think she can do the job with all the baggage (some like the post tight here) she brings.
Something I forgot to point out earlier was the pointed notice that this meeting without any black people was in *gasp* Harlem... how can you have a meeting in Harlem without any black people?
Bill Clinton’s office is in Harlem. Should he have moved the meeting to the Hamptons because the black folks he invited declined?
Well, yeah. That’s the point, isn’t it? Why would it be goofy to ignore something that isn’t unusual?
Bingo!
It would NOT be unusual for the Clinton’s to host highly diverse groups, so when something UNusual happens, a meeting that is not diverse, it is pounced on as an example, while really it is the exception, not the rule.
That is why I made the statement that this post is intellectually dishonest.
What, white and whiter? Pink and George-Hamilton-golden-brown do not count.
I am going to fight the urge to be sarcastic here... awww screw it... perhaps you were unaware that on this planet, there is more to diversity than white, black, and Hispanic, there’s a gay guy and a person of Indian descent, and of course Kos (who’s blog is represented, just not by him) is a first generation American of Salvadoran and Greek descent (does that count as 2?)
Probably as relevant as anything is the fact this meeting was set up by Peter Daod, a former big time blogger, who was hired by the Clinton’s for his expertise on the progressive blogosphere. He’s no shrewd insider that knows enough to realize that the substance of a meeting is no more important than the appearance.
There are quite a few liberal bloggers that are a bit resentful of Daou, and though this nothingness will have zero impact on Billary, it assured Peter of getting a good tongue from the appropriate Clinton. (humor intended)
Oh well, I learned a lot more about blogs than I think I ever wanted to know.

Nah, really?
Who cares? It isn’t the right who is fighting this out, it’s the left. They’re the one’s making an issue of this.

Don’t bet on it. Those left out, like Liza, would have still found something to bitch about.

Intellectual honesty? It’s a tongue-in-cheeck slap at the stupidity of the cat fight going on. And the delicious irony provided by the Howard Dean reference.

"there is more to diversity than white, black, and Hispanic,"
Nope. They (black, hispanic) are the only ones with big enough organizations and the solidarity and ability to punish. When the Greeks have their own Jesse Jackson they will become a minority, otherwise they are white. Half doesn’t count unless it is visible, and half hispanic looks like white. Gays aren’t visible, either, so unless they wear a sign they do not count either. Women do count as a minority, even though they are not a minority, because they are visible and organized. Except for lesbians, who are not visible as women, or gay, but they count as a minority because nobody has the guts to say no to them. And what do you mean by "Indian descent"? Cowboy-and-Indian Indians are now referred to as Native Americans(as opposed to those of us who were born here but do not play cowboys-and indians, who are referred to as #$%$#, except for blacks and hispanics who were born here), while the Indian Indians are white(no organizations). The rules are complicated, I know, but after awhile they become slightly less confusing. I hope I have provided some clarification.

You’re right, I posted my first reponse before reading the blogwars that was well worth the entertainment value, and not as I initially thought an indictment against Clinton for not having a diverse enough meeting.
But if you reas YOUR comments, not the bloggers, that’s what it sounds like.
