"Tokyo Rose" - RIP
Posted by: McQ on Wednesday, September 27, 2006

The Japanese-American woman who was identified as the infamous "Tokyo Rose" died yesterday at age 90.

Of course those who know the history of WWII in the Pacific know that "Tokyo Rose" was a generic name given by GIs to the English speaking Japanese women who broadcast Japanese propaganda directed at US troops during the war.

But the Tokyo Rose we eventually arrested wasn't one of these women, although at the time, apparently, that didn't matter. Satisfying our rage against such "traitors" was.

It's a sad story of unethical media, law enforcment and government, a kangaroo court and a brave woman who was railroaded for something she actually never did.

RIP Ivo Toguri.
