Goes to Joe Conason whose biting criticism of the Bush administration's handling of Iraq contained this jewel (speaking of Tony Snow, the President's spokesman):
According to Mr. Snow, who must be the most aptly named man in Washington, the President stopped saying "stay the course" because "it left the wrong impression about what was going on ....
I'd really hate to be Tony Snow right now. In fact, I'd hate to ever have to be a presidential spokesman for any president. What a crummy job.

If Presidents actually had to debate, as do the Prime Ministers in the House of Commons, you would see less of this garbage talk, which is done by both parties.

Tony is stuck with the name snow which had meanings independent of him before he was born. Conason, on the other hand, has a name which now means "totally full of cr*p" entirely because of his own dishonesty and stupidity. Joe did it to himself, just as Clymer is now a synonym for "*ssh*l*".

Agreed. Why anyone would want to be the spokesperson for the President is stupefying. You take heat, cannot fully answer questions, either look as though you are hemming or, if you elaborate, risk the boss’ ire.

Worst of all you must look upon the face of Helen Thomas each day. *cringe*

At least Tony Snow knew what he was getting into when he took the job. He’s only been there a few months and Iraq was about the same then as it is now.
