Whatever your view on the meaning of his statement I think it is becoming clear that this has not just nailed down the coffin, but has also lowered it into the ground and is piling soil on Kerry getting within a sniff of the Democratic nomination in a couple of years. |

Kerry may have meant to refer to Bush, but bottom line is that he misspoke and insulted the troops instead. The easy thing to do would have been to be humble and accept blame for misspeaking, clarify what he meant to say and ask to put it all behind us. Then after that if GOP’ers kept attacking him, reply back with some of that fiery rhetoric from yesterday, but hopefully more coherent.
But no, he chose to cover up his verbal gaffe by launching into another wild eyed, "Are you questioning my patriotism chickenhawk?!!?" polemic. |

good old Skull n Bones.
They ALWAYS help out a brother in need!
OK, so if a botched joke (and if you saw the video you EXACTLY what it was and what it was not) can cost an election, how many bad jokes has Herr Bush botched? ("fool me once... You’r doing a heckuva job...etc").
And McCain makes me puke. Ever the ’compassionate conservative’ he is! More like ’opportunistic conservative’ if you ask me.
The President looked almost rabid yesterday here in GA. Detected a bit of spittle and drool. I hope he has had his vaccinations. Or at least his meds.

It’s one thing to "botch a joke". It’s quite another to botch it when the joke is "Look how stupid you are!". |

OK, so if a botched joke (and if you saw the video you EXACTLY what it was and what it was not) I did and I do, he was deliberately insulting the troops and their commander in chief, As far harpy like shrillness, gee what do you call one entire year of Democrat wailing about the totally nothing, non story of Valarie Plame?

Kerry’s spokesman confirmed the senator has canceled the appearances.
``We made a decision not to allow the Republican hate machine to use Democratic House candidates as proxies in their distorted spin war in which once again they’re willing to exploit brave American troops,’’ David Wade said in a statement. Apparently, Kerry was for this campaign appearance - before he was against it.
(Sorry, I know I keep using the same lame joke, but he’s such an easy target I can’t resist. That one statement in 2004 summed up the man so well.) |

(Plugs ears to the harpie-like shrillness coming out of the GOP apologist’s pig trough) and how does one become that? By not calling the President "Herr Bush" like you do? Is that your standard?
I heard KErry say what he said, and I think Democrat Harold Ford Jr. says it best: “Whatever the intent, Senator Kerry was wrong to say what he said,” Rep. Ford said. “He needs to apologize to our troops.” |

The choice: a) Study hard, get a good education and land a well-paying job b) Don’t sudy and look at the military as your only option.
Where does this involve the notion of being stupid? It’s about economic options.
The political hype and hysteria are nauseating. Being so fond of pointing to ridiculous blogs when they come from the ’Left’, try reading some of your own for a lesson in over-kill. |

Laime, you left out "you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq"
Now why would you do that?
And why did you leave out this option: Study hard, get a good education and join the military? |

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in [fill in the blank].”
Iraq This option seems to have two interpretations: 1) you end up in the military and are sent to Iraq or 2) you become the POTUS and make bad decisions. Either way, the real problem here is not just that John Kerry said this poorly delivered joke, but that he even ever thought that it was funny. The first case shows disrespect for the military, a position that John Kerry himself was part of, and the seconds case shows disrespect for the office of POTUS, a position that John Kerry seems to want. Both seem to show that John Kerry hates himself or at least what he has been and wants to become.
saying it wasn’t deliberate, but you should apologize anyway To start, John Kerry should look into a mirror and apologize to himself for being such a sorry SOB.
Walmart This would have been the PC option or at least will fly well in Democratic circles.
McDonalds This option is widely known to be true. |

a) Study hard, get a good education and land a well-paying job b) Don’t sudy and look at the military as your only option. Well, aside from the fact he’s talking to COLLEGE students....so he’s already jumped past kids with only a High School education.
Not everyone goes to college you know, and yet they make a decent living doing decent jobs that don’t involve the military in any way shape size or form, nor do they involve the phrase "would you like fries with that?". So your alternatives are not ’college’ OR ’the military’.
I realize that’s going to amaze - note, not all, just a bunch of...the liberals who comment here though.
Ya know, GW probably meant to say "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" - but that doesn’t stop you harping on what he actually DID say, does it?
Just let this dog lie will you, Kerry’s physical statement was breathtakingly stupid, regardless of what he MEANT to say. Just like GW’s ’don’t fool me twice’ statement was breathtakingly stupid! |

Victims of the bad economy or bad education or unwilling kids shipped out against their wishes.

Lame, The choice: a) Study hard, get a good education and land a well-paying job b) Don’t sudy and look at the military as your only option. Getting into the military is not an easy one for lazy people. In general, today’s military are better educated and wealthier that the general population. You would be better off at McD, Walmart, of a Democratic staffer when brains and talent are not really required.
Hey Ricky DOK, so if a botched joke (and if you saw the video you EXACTLY what it was and what it was not) can cost an election, how many bad jokes has Herr Bush botched? ("fool me once... You’r doing a heckuva job...etc").

Per Drudge Kerry has apologized.
"I was actually against apologizing before I was for it"
Now for the apology to all the service members are related folks who he said was crazy.
After all if he apologized he must have felt that some thought his remarks pertained to the military and yet he called them crazy after refusing to apologize the first time.
I demand an apology for being called crazy.

Maybe Kerry was implying that if you aren’t very smart you will get into a party school like Yale instead of a serious school like Harvard. Wait, Bush has a degree from Harvard. ???
I give up, as usual I don’t what the hell Kerry is talking about. I’m not sure he does either. |

Chris B, you succinctly summed up this whole matter better than anyone else. Good job.
It is becoming more and more evident every day that Kerry’s poor grades and his goofy college picture are accurate depictions of his intellect. He really isn’t very smart. He claims to have learned a lesson from the Swift Boat chickens coming home to roost in 2004. Is this it? He flailed around like a two year old yelling at Bush, Cheny and the chickenhawks and accomplished nothing. A simple apology for mispeaking would have ended the whole thing buit his narcissism wouldn’t allolw him to do that. He is pathetic. |
