A final word about Kerry
Posted by: mcq on Thursday, November 02, 2006

After first saying that his "poorly stated joke" was never intended to insult any troop, he says:
I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.
Mr. Kerry, your words were not "misinterpreted". They were properly interpreted. There is absolutely no misinterpretation involved.

Instead, assuming your story is true, you misstated what you intended to say. You screwed up, Kerry, not anyone else. You blew it. You said it wrong. You are the boob.

Got it?

Off topic (sort of):
"This is why American Muslims will support the Democrats, because there is an atmosphere in America that encourages those who want to withdraw from Iraq. It is time that the American people support those who want to take them out of this Iraqi mud," said Jaara, speaking to WND from exile in Ireland, where he was sent as part of an internationally brokered deal that ended the church siege.

Jaara was the chief in Bethlehem of the Brigades, the declared "military wing" of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party.

There is no truth to the rumor that Kerry is adopting as his theme song the BeeGees song, "I Started a Joke"

Tsk, such bitterness, McQ!

calm..deep breaths. It is not going to help and if one slip of the JK tongue undoes (for you) everything he has done for vets, then it is time for you to seek professional advice.

And I think Kerry is as much an insider as GWB.

Got Ulcer?

I really feel sorry for ya bunch of apologist cheerleaders.

Your boys had their chance. Small government (snort)

Things are so volitle here in GA that Cynthia McKinney and the Greens in GA are considering their persepctive party disgruntles vote for the Libertarians. Just because!

THAT is how bad ’your guys’ have screwed up.

But there is no reason to get your blood pressure up, man.

It is only politics!

heh...

You’re right—he screwed up and misspoke. So why is this a bigger story than Bush saying Rumsfeld has done a hell of job and he wants him to stay on for the remainder of the term. Which of those statements—Kerry’s or Bush’s—is more dangerous and worrisome for the country?

So which time did he misspeak, was it when he said troops were cutting off ears, or when he dropped them off in Cambodia during Christmas, or when he said a volunteer army would be made up of the poor, black and brown, or when he said that troop were breaking into home in the middle of the night to frighten children or ... Because Kerry would never insult the troops. You would think by now he would just shut the hell up.

Rumsfeld has done a trememdous job. He’s done quite a lot of good during his tenure, but obviously you wouldn’t know about it since the NYTimes won’t cover it

Kerry was a putz over 30 years ago and hasn’t changed since. At least the Dems are probably smart enough to realize that now and never give him a second shot at the White House. Well, then again one never knows...

Three points:

1. Why did Kerry have a scripted joke about the US being stuck in Iraq in the first place? Wouldn’t such a joke be in terrible taste, especially for a man who wants to be President?

2. Contrary to what the nutroots are saying, it is not OBVIOUS that Kerry was denigrating Bush, rather than the troops. At best it is PLAUSIBLE, in light of his subsequent clarifications, that the original script called for him to make a tasteless joke denigrating Bush rather than the troops.

3. Kerry is an ass.

Don’t stop there, Mr shark. What is this stuff that the NYTimes neglects to tell us? Pray tell.

I just read, at a previous thread, what is claimed to be the "joke" Kerry was attempting to tell. Wow. Even assuming he is telling the truth, and he was trying to tell that "joke" about Bush, he still owes the world an apology for trying to tell it. Not funny. If he paid for it, he should sue. somehow, though, I think he wrote it himself. *sigh* Truly sad.

Kerry said:
It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy," he said. "I don’t want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues.
Excuse me Senator Kerry, but even if we accept your explanation at face value, and put the best possible spin on your comments, you were JOKING about the US being stuck in Iraq, so spare us the pious lecture about how this story has diverted you from your serious discussion of the real issues.

Rick Day,
It is not going to help and if one slip of the JK tongue undoes (for you) everything he has done for vets...
It’s what he’s done to active duty troops that concerns us then and now.

Please tell us all about what he’s done for vets. Name a single piece of legislation which he has written and shepherded through the process and into law. Just one.

Consider that in the video, it looks like he’s looking down at a script.

Thank God he didn’t become President.

People deride Bush for his speaking ability. The press and comics would have made mincemeat of him if he had "misspoke" this badly.

Things are so volitle here in GA that Cynthia McKinney and the Greens in GA are considering their persepctive party disgruntles vote for the Libertarians. Just because!
What does this mean? Are you saying McKinney is telling her supporters to vote for the Libs? Excellent. While I’m sure she’s doing it purely out of ignorant spite (since that’s why she does 90% of her things), we Georgia Libs could use all the help we can get. I find it implausible that the GA Green party would vote for the Libs and not the Dems. But, if you have some quotes to back this up...

Also, how does McKinney (a Dem) telling people to vote Libertarian show a failure of the Repubs? Wouldn’t it show that the Dems had failed?

You’re beating a dead horse, MCQ.

If you look it up, you will find that Kerry is not running in the campaign.
Don’t we have more important things to worry about?
LIke the ever gloomier picture of Iraq?
Like corruption?
LIke the economy?
Like the worsening picture of Afghanistan?
LIke the zillions of other issued facing the nation?

This insistance that you have the one true interpretation of what Kerry meant is a matter of faith in your own convictions. It is much like having faith in the one true interpretation of God’s will.
Faith is not fact. It is faith.

Don’s Muslim vote addendum is just plain Bush scare tactics. Your choice of whom to quote is transparently geared to enhance fear and to minimize rational thought.
Maybe Muslims will vote Democratic because they hope for someone to see them outside of the jihadi cartoon caricature.

Laime;

If you look it up, you will find that Bush is not running in the campaign.
And yet he appears in about 50% of the ads for the Dems. If opposing the the Republican leadership is what this set of Congressional elections is about, then the alternative leadership you are proposing is fair game as well.

Ted, the way the foam at the mouth over him, I thought he was running again in 2008.
Course I wouldn’t be surprised to discover they believe he’s got some FEMA based conspiracy plan in place to ensure he stays President in 2008.

And Laime - economy? You mean the improved one you’ve ignored up until the recent (hmmmmmm, what election?) talk that it might be slowing down?

I’m afraid you don’t understand how deeply I detest John Kerry. I’m one of the guys he slandered in the ’70s. And I love it that I have an opportunity to pay the sanctimonious SOB back given the medium I have.

So live with it.

No. He said what he said. It is the spin after that which is "a matter of faith in your own convictions".

Hey, if you want to believe this proven liar (see Cambodia), go for it.

Kerry aides yesterday said the senator bungled a line intended to make fun of the president, a fellow Yale University graduate who has poked fun at his own lackadaisical attitude toward his schooling. According to Kerry’s prepared text, as provided to reporters, Kerry intended to reference Bush in that portion of the speech.

"Do you know where you end up if you don’t study, if you aren’t smart, if you’re intellectually lazy?" Kerry was to say. "You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush."
Whatever Q... Kerry’s Presidential aspirations are done, that doesn’t bother me, but you’re clinging to the belief that what he said was what he meant to say is convincing me that you are beyond the capacity of rational thought on the subject of John Kerry.

4.5 posts about Kerry with one of them updated 5X... a few more and you’d qualify as a stalker.

Yeah, just like John Kerry. His homepage currently highlights 4 op-eds on his comments. One of them is reprinted in full here, also on Kerry’s website.
Was Kerry making fun of the president, or warning students against the pitfalls awaiting the undereducated in general?

It doesn’t matter. Kerry was right either way.
Just because KERRY’S OWN WEBSITE is promoting the notion that exactly what he said is exactly right, there’s no reason to think he believes it! That’s irrational in Lefty World!

Pull your head out, Cap. Kerry has been trashing the troops for 35 years.

Politically, Kerry is a boob, but do you really think he reviews everything that is put up on his website?

As far as trashing the troops, that’s a red herring that you can use on someone who has not read everything he has said and the context he said it in... which fortunately for the RNC is almost everyone.

Here is what I sent to the morons that run the website...
Are you folks at the website working for the RNC?

Every blog in the universe is pointing to this article as proof that Kerry meant it, either way.

First rule when you’re in a hole, STOP DIGGING!

Poor word choice on my part, he may still aspire to be President, but is not going to get enough support to win a primary, much less get the nomination, and he is light years from being able to win a national general election.

So no, I’m not mind reading, just paying attention.
