(2006-11-09) — As the Associated Press declared Democrat Jim Webb had unseated Sen. George Allen, R-VA, Democrat National Committee Chairman Howard Dean sent a team of lawyers to the Commonwealth of Virginia to investigate irregularities in several precincts, claims of fraud and the disenfranchisement of some Republican voters.

“When it comes down to about 7,000 votes in such a large state, it’s a no brainer to assume there was corruption there,” said Mr. Dean. “We’re hearing that this is a replay of Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004. Even though our guy won, and it would give Democrats the majority in the Senate, we’re committed to making sure he won legally.”

Although few Republicans have raised questions about the legality of the election, Mr. Dean said “it’s the principle of the thing that matters.”

“We plan to tie this up in court as long as possible,” the DNC chairman said, “until every vote is counted, because we believe every Republican voter counts.”

Heh ... yes, it's Scrappleface, but, you know, just sayin'.

It is amusing that the rabid foaming about Diebold stealing the election and how the evil local election boards were going to disenfranchise all the Democrats... simply vanished Wednesday morning.

People I saw spewing that bull Monday night online suddenly seem to have forgotten they ever thought the election was Obviously Going To Be Corrupt.

It makes me wonder if they ever really believed it in the first place, personally.

If we’re going back to 2000 again, it may be worth keeping in mind that the W team did everything it could to prevent any sort of recount from happening — I’m not sure that’s any more honorable. Is anyone really suggesting that either man wouldn’t have been doing exactly what his opponent was doing if the situations were reversed?

It is amusing that the rabid foaming about Diebold stealing the election and how the evil local election boards were going to disenfranchise all the Democrats... simply vanished Wednesday morning.

It would’ve been particularly satisfying, given that these same people were the ones complaining that we needed to move into the 21st century in terms of our voting machines, following the discovery of the intelligence level of some Florida voters.
