it wasn’t a botched joke at all. Everyone there "got it". Everyone laughed at the cheap shot.
It may have been a bad joke, but it certainly wasn’t botched.
When I saw this I thought, yeah... wait ’til McQ and the boys learn of this... They will definitely spin straw into... well... something. |

It may have been a bad joke, but it certainly wasn’t botched. Sarcasm is just sometimes lost on you, isn’t it Pogue?
Here ... I’ll fix it. |

This sounds a lot like the Howard Dean "Republicans are evil" speech. Er, I mean "joke." Yeah, that’s it. |

Personally I think Schumer needs a real talking to by the leadership. The last thing the Democrats need is to imply that Anti-Semites should be voting Republican. That is an important voting bloc for them. Maybe the Republicans should seize the moment and parade Pat Buchanan around and see who they can pick up? |

The Senator, the host, and the audience all laughed. Conclusion: It was a joke. Of course they laughed, Pogue.
Heh ... Irony and sarcasm, two of the more misunderstood and under-appreciated parts of humor and both lost on Pogue. But he got the typo bit. |

[Chuck Schumer] On Bill Maher’s Real Time: "There are some, you know there are some anti-Semites in this country, but most of them would vote Republican anyway." I wonder why it was necessary to remove the comment he made IMMEDIATELY following this quote above qualifying this comment made on a comedy show?
Here is the text of the comment made on a comedy show in full without the editorial deletion of relevant information....
[Chuck Schumer] On Bill Maher’s Real Time: "There are some, you know there are some anti-Semites in this country, but most of them would vote Republican anyway. I’m just kidding"
Shumer also said he’s not a Jew. (he was kidding then too)
