Think she’s totally avoided the danger of the minefield? What about the Blue Dog’s desire for Harman to fill that slot? How far can she push them without ending up with a revolt on her hands? I’m gonna savor every moment of this play! |

Harman was actually due to be cycled out of the top spot in the Intelligence Committee anyway. Her defenders said that Pelosi should make an exception and keep her as Chair. Pelosi said, "No way." Hastings was a joke from the beginning. Now Pelosi will pick either Rush Holt, Dicks (forgot his first name) or Silvestre Reyes. My guess is it’s Reyes. He was a Border Patrolman and he would be a top pick spot for a Latino Congressman.
Frankly, I think most of this posturing is just that...posturing. Pelosi didn’t get Murtha. But she did knock off Harman. I don’t see the Blue Dogs making much of a stink as long as people like Skelton play top roles in the 110th Congress. The Blue Dogs are more interested in fiscal restraint and balancing the budget than they are in running the Intelligence Committee. |
