The 2006 Weblog Awards

Well it's Weblog Awards time again and, thanks to Kevin Aylward and the gang at Wizbang, the festivities, er voting, begins tomorrow. And for the 3rd year in a row, QandO has been nominated as a finalist.

There have been a number of category changes, and this year QandO ends up in "The Best Centrist Blog" category (yeah, yeah, I know, it's debatable, but there is no "group blog" category anymore) against some very stiff and worthy competition.

  • Good Will Hinton
  • Homeland Stupidity
  • The Glittering Eye
  • The Gun-Toting Liberal
  • The Moderate Voice
  • PolCentre
  • Althouse
  • C'est Moi
  • Winds of Change

Thanks for the nomination (heh ... although reading through the nomination thread for that category we weren't mentioned once) and we look forward to the competition. And yes, count on me to pester you persistently to go and vote, even if it isn't for QandO. While you're there, take the time to read a few new blogs you've not read in the past ... that is one of the joys of this competition.

We’re in the "other" center.

Congrats on the nomination. I often wonder why this blog is considered "centrist" but I think the label actually fits quite well. McQ is certainly not a centrist but I could make an argument that Dale and Jon are centrists. As a liberal, I always read this blog looking to be offended by right-wing talking points and I’m usually underwhelmed; the RW talking points are very sparse around here. Either way, the nomination is well-deserved.

One question, though: Why is this blog called "Q and O"?

Elrod -

They took down the full name a while back. It was "Questions and Observations."
Hence the weekly podcast, "Observations."

What Ornery said, Elrod: the full name is "Questions and Observations." It became shortened by just about everyone to QandO years ago. We just made it official on the masthead.
McQ is certainly not a centrist...
I agree ... I’m a right leaning libertarian ... always have been.
