Odd Blegging Request

I know this is a bit odd, but I need a sanity check on something. An author working on an alternate history SF story wants an extrapolation of the historical Confederate Army rank insignia, which I am trying to provide. Take a look at this shockwave file, if you're interested, and let me know if you think it's a logical extrapolation.

My background: Presently an Asst. curator of military history at a state museum, ex-NPS park ranger at rev and cw sites:
Seems like a very logical progression to me. I am assuming that the color differention is to various service arms. Perhaps a heavier angle on the chevrons. I would suggest that a variety of chevron styles would be accepted during the CW and immediate Post ’Revolutionary’ period (much like what happened during the 1770s), especially between geographical areas and/or armies.

Looks pretty logical to me. My only suggestion would be to keep the chevrons flipped to keep them different than what the US would do/did.
