Iraq and the Democrats (UPDATED) Posted by: McQ

More evidence that the the left plans on holding Democrats responsible for doing something about Iraq. The days of only criticising, apparently, are over. I mentioned this previously here and here.
"She better have, it seems to me, a strong voice about the war. And that’s not just putting Jack Murtha out there to lose. And she’s gotta get out there and win on this argument. This is going to come down to funding, whether anybody like it or not. The purse strings are now controlled by the Democrats; they cannot abdicate that. They have to choose, whether they’re for the president’s position with this new escalation that seems to be coming or they’re not with him. They can’t fall back and tut-tut and hiss the president. They’ve got to do something about it."
For you naysayers out there, perception is reality in politics. You can stamp your feet and hold your breath until you turn even bluer, but that isn’t going to change this perception. Many the left took the Democrats seriously when they said "we can do it better" and seem to plan on holding them to the promise.
UPDATE: Cindy Sheehan and crew provide the exclamation point for the issue:
Chanting "de-escalate, investigate, troops home now," the protesters disrupted a briefing aimed at outlining priority goals when Democrats take over the House and Senate on Thursday.
[...]
"We didn't put you in power to work with the people that have been murdering hundreds of thousands of people since they have been in power," Sheehan said. "We put you in power to be opposition to them finally and we're the ones who put them in power."
Will it have the desired effect?
"The president has got about a six-month window here and if he doesn't figure this out, how to get us out or start to get us out in six months, then you'll actually see a vote to cut off funds," said Martin Frost, former Texas Democratic representative and a FOX News contributor.
If that were to actually happen, it would be the biggest mistake the Democrats could possibly make.
