SKS is just like a .22 long rifle. It’s interesting they actually provided those to a military.

SKS is just like a .22 long rifle. It’s interesting they actually provided those to a military. It’s a 30 Caliber .22, then...It’s a fine combat weapon, for killing someone at 200-300 metres by a 3rd World draftee/militiaman. 7.62mm X 39 mmm is a classic intermediate round.

I’m all over the M1. I have one and the last time we went to the range my wife and I put 144 rounds through it before we switched to a friends AR-15 and Czeck AK-47. Other rifles may be more fun to shoot, but I would be hard pressed to leave the M1 behind in a fight if a had a choice. |

How did your red-dot hold up the recoil on the SKS? I’ve been thinking about picking up one to mount on my AR and I want something rugged enough that I won’t have to worry about the zero wandering. I think I’ll get used to the irons first though. |

By the way, for shooting an M1 properly you need a hat with a brim: that way you occasionally get an ejected clip landing there to the amazement of all who don’t know the rifle. "Hey, something just blew out of your gun!"

"Hey, something just blew out of your gun!" Some Winchesters are like that too. You wear a cowboy hat because the gun will eject empties up onto the brim for occasionally comic effect. Sometimes you’ll get them down your cowboy shirt which is especially funny for everyone else. |
