US forces have stormed a building in the northern Iraqi town of Irbil and seized six people said to be Iranians, prompting a diplomatic incident.

Iranian and Iraqi officials said the building was an Iranian consulate and the detainees its employees.

Huh ... how about that? Iran's reaction:

However, Tehran said the attack violated all international conventions. It has summoned ambassadors from Switzerland, representing US interests, and Iraq.

Of course in normal circumstances, they would have summoned the US ambassador but there is no embassy there since years earlier Iranians invaded it and held our diplomats hostage for 444 days.

Amazingly those little diplomatic niceties are suddenly important to Iran.

More importantly, it looks like the heat is being turned up on Iran in Iraq.

Consulate, my ass. There are certain requirements for a building to be considered a consulate and they were not in place here. Nor was the other building in Baghdad where Iranians were seized. The Iraqi Foreign Ministry has said they were not consulates, so screw the Iranians.

Oh, and what about the 5 contractors seized in Southern Iraq? Nothing much happens in the south that the Iranians do not have knowledge of, or are not directly involved in. And no videos have shown up with them getting their heads cut off so it’s a safe bet the Shias have them, as opposed to the Sunnis. We are releasing Iranians we detain, how about the contractors? Coalition soldiers are being killed by Iranian weapons and Iranian surregates everyday in Iraq, but we aren’t killing any Iranians. We can make life very tough for Iran, but then they can do the same to us.
