Who reads political blogs?
Posted by: McQ on Thursday, January 25, 2007

One of our regular commenters (as well as a blogger at A Second Hand Conjecture), Keith from Indy provided us with an interesting link to a survey about who reads political blogs.

See if you fit the profile and agree with the reasons for reading political blogs.

It isn’t me...I’m MUCH more handsome than the rest of you.

But I thought I was going to be WAY too old; turns out I’m not. I figured that McQ was just an old man but outlier and that the rest of you would be Young Whipper-Snappers.

I looked at the data and I came to the conclusion that I’m too young, too female, make too little money and have too many kids to be reading political blogs. Consequently I will go read Mommy blogs now.

NOT.

63% of those who read blogs also read The Advocate? That seems like a very high number.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

You read that wrong...

63% of the people who read the Advocate read it in print, with the rest reading it online.

The number to the right 1163 is the total number who read the Advocate. (4%)

The top 10 magazines are:

Onion
The New Yorker
Salon
Slate
Newsweek
The Nation
National Review
The Economist
National Geographic
Time

The bottom 10 are:

Barrons
Business 2.0
Smart Money
Christianity Today
Harvard Business Review
Inc.
Guidepost
The Jerusalem report
Soldier of Fortune
Depatures

***

I actually remember participating in this survey. A side note is that I’ve subscribed to 2 magazines in the top 10 and 1 in the bottom 10.

It was much appreciated McQ, but we have work rules. If you want the big bucks internal discipline must be maintained. He’ll think twice next time after he tries to get by on a paycheck half as large.

Knock, Knock.......

Huh?

Damn, I gotta go, his union delegate wants to talk.
