Al Qaeda lectures the Democrats
Posted by: McQ on Tuesday, February 13, 2007

In a 40 minute taped screed, Al Qaeda's number 2 terrorist lectures the Democrats about not living up to their rhetoric:
On the tape, Zawahiri also condemns American Democrats "as one side of the same coin of tyranny, criminality and failure" for failing to challenge Bush policies as they said they would in the election.
So, uh, Democrats ... do your duty.

It is interesting to see the way that Zawahiri (the real leader of al Qaeda, imo) has refined his rhetoric over time in an attempt to appeal to Western listeners who might be receptive: he has toned down the references to God and religion, and now urges the base to keep the pressure on elected Democrats to challenge criminal Bush administration policies.

Maybe in the next video he should lose the beard and cammies, and get a trucker cap, some piercings and one of those plastic colored "support" bracelets.

If you follow the link and read the comments, you can read a bunch of leftists who agree with the terrorists. Priceless.

To clarify, I was not implying in my comment that Leftists are terrorists. I was noting the way a propagandist refines his material over time in order to adapt it to a target audience.

If a person agrees with a terrorist organization about some particular point on an abstract, intellectual level, that does not make the person a terrorist by association.

Here is the question I have about the people you mention: Even if you happen to agree with al Qaeda about something, why would you make a point of doing so publicly?

I don’t see any upside to giving the rhetorical equivalent of a "standing O" to a propaganda video put out by declared enemies of America. Why would you risk tarring your own arguments by associating them with the likes of al Qaeda? And if your endorsement carries any weight, why would you give it to Ayman al Zawahiri, of all people?

I’m not quite sure Bush hatred is intellectual.

Right. I agree.

But sometimes . . . they agree on more than they admit to . . .
Even if you happen to agree with al Qaeda about something, why would you make a point of doing so publicly?
Zombie had a photo essay on "Insurgent solidarity day" or some such, in the Bay area . . .

But, to answer your question, I think they have such strong hatred for Bush & co. that they are blind to all else.
