I tend to think that a "Beslan school massacre" will eventually happen here. Investigators described them as members of a right-wing fundamentalist group called the “New Crusaders” who don’t believe in separation of church and state. The people who will do this don’t believe in seperation of church and state. But they won’t call themselves "Crusaders".

From Investors Business Daily:Homeland Security: As Democrats hold more silly hearings to embarrass Republicans, the FBI is warning local police to be alert for Muslim extremists hijacking school buses. Reality check, please. Of the many tragedies—Bali, Madrid, London, etc—Beslan is the one that I believe to be the most tragic.
I think this school received this warning but just couldn’t bring themselves to label it honestly. By the way, didn’t this happen to Micheal Chrichton?

Two Burlington Township police detectives portrayed the gunmen. Investigators described them as members of a right-wing fundamentalist group called the "New Crusaders" who don’t believe in separation of church and state. The mock gunmen went to the school seeking justice because the daughter of one had been expelled for praying before class If these are the putzes protecting the kids, they’re probably better off being left unprotected.
Christians (and Jews to a much lesser extent) are allowing institutions to take the wrong lesson. Violence is rewarded (Islam) and relative passiveness (Christianty) gets you stupidity like this. (And I’m just waiting for some idiot to try to compare the Islam Cartoons situation with the Marcotte bruhaha). Admittedly it is minor in the scheme of things, but it is also incredibly illustrative also.
One day there really will be a "New Crusaders" group who will do something like kill the "artist" who made a Chocolate Jesus. Or issue a serious death threat against a New York Times writer, etc.
Then we’ll see what’s really what. |

Screw ’em. One of the elements of taboos is that they generally contain an element of dangerous truth, that they’re the first step in some possible social upset.
If something is patently absurd, it’s not taboo—everyone laughs at the idiot and walks away.
Hence, hostile Christian takeovers: absurd. Hostile Islamic takeovers: taboo.

I think Douglas Black has it exactly correct, taboo to inflame Muslims (there is more than a hint of truth to them inacting violence), ok to try and inflame Christians (no worry of violence being rendered).
Perhaps it has to do with the Christian God inviting non-believers to the fold , and the Islam God demanding adherence (submission?) or else suffer dire consequences. |
