"Fred" It’s a name Joe Sixpack would be comfortable with. Perhaps there is some hope for the Repubs in 08. |

I don’t see how anyone can support Thompson and criticise the Democrats for being weak on the war on terror.
The man has a clear track record of capitulating to terrorist demands and bungling efforts to rescue hostages. He acted on bad advice and managed to get many of his subordinates killed even when alternatives were laid out before him. Not only that but he showed a major error of judgement in dealing with traitors in an effort to resolve a crisis he was clearly unprepared to deal with. He came close to initiating a major international incident when his bungling of a terrorist situation led to the murder of a plane load of foreign nationals, many of them from a close US ally. If it hadn’t been for the timely intervention of John McClane who knows how much worse the situation might have become.
Not only that but the idiot let the whole situation get filmed for posterity. The man has no credibility. |

President Fred?? Fred Flintstone, the neolithic conservative? Freddie and the Dreamers, dreaming of a Republican victory? Sorry, I just can’t see it.

From what I have seen coming out of Washington , that would be most unlikely. |

For a look into the loonier side...Ten White Men
Read the comments. These people are absolutely unhinged that the only Republican candidates are white men. As if one should be ashamed of being white or male.
Not one of them said a word about policy or substance, they just carped away at the candidates’ race and gender. |

Heh. All the smart women and minorities (who aren’t libertarian) are in the Republican party, it’s just that they are too smart to want such a pain in the *ss job. I’m half-way serious, too.
When so many people were saying "Condi ’08" I never figured she’d run. Though she would be popular... which is something "certain people" just don’t get. Most Republicans I know, even in passing, honestly don’t care about race or gender and would vote for her without considering race or gender... *just like* they don’t consider race or gender of the candidates the party has so far.

I’d have voted for Condi in a heartbeat.
Womans got a PhD in a pretty rough field... That’s a lot of "something" in my book.
And frankly I think she’s kinda hot...
What?
Oh, I’m the only guy here that thinks power is sexy?
Screw you for judging me man... |

I’m single...
I know, I know... "How could such an even tempered, mild-mannered guy be single?" That’s what you are wondering...
It’s my "junk"... It’s too big... It scares them away...
Ooooooooooooooor I’m a massive @sshole...
One of the two... |

Screw you for judging me man. She not only has a Ph.D., but her work in government, academia, and university administration has been stellar. As someone who is anti-war and who has been extremely critical of this administration, I would not rule out voting for Rice. First, I think she’s one reason the Administration is starting to change policy direction in Iraq — the rhetoric from the White House remains consistent, but there have been real policy adjustments, especially in terms of diplomatic endeavors on many fronts. Second, I think her background as basically a realist scholar of international relations with an expertise in Russia would serve her and the country well. I could see voting for her even if I agreed with her opponent more, depending on who her opponent is. A lot would depend on what she said, the positions she took, etc., but Rice, Hagel and of course Olympia Snowe (gotta be loyal to my state) are Republicans I could conceivably vote for. I tend to vote more on the person than the issues — issues change, and reality often pushes people to directions they didn’t expect in a campaign. It’s more important to have an honest person with real intelligene and knowledge in power. |
