FYI: Hilton goes back to jail (update)
Posted by: McQ on Friday, June 08, 2007

Apparently the judge was not amused. According to Fox she's been sent back to the clink for the full 45 day sentence. Also the judge made it clear he was not consulted about her release and obviously didn't agree.

UPDATE: Get your "Free Paris" apparel here. Guaranteed to be delivered before she's sprung again.

Cry me a rive, Ms Hilton...

Oh, and for a bit of Schadenfreude, go to the main page, for a link to see video of Ms Hilton crying as the sheriff’s dept takes her back to court to face the mean ol’ judge...

She’s so gonna write a really mean journal entry about him...

Well, she will in about 40 days...

Hey, this is big news. Shouldn’t every television news network be hovering on this story. And citing such bastions of journalism as with their coverage? And bringing in their entertainment and legal "experts" to talk about it....and talk about it....and talk about it some more?

Does my sarcasm hint at my disgust?

I was out to eat for lunch and they had fox news on. They were covering the "breaking news" that General Pace was being replaces, but then they switched to the "breaking news" that paris hilton was going back to court. They had a helicopter follow her out of her home and then followed the car as it went to the courthouse and got stuck in traffic.

"BREAKING NEWS - Paris Hilton stuck in LA traffic!"

What people outside of LA don’t understand is that the jails here are so overcrowded that no one serves more than a tiny fraction of a sentence. From today’s Los Angeles Times:
Because of overcrowding in Los Angeles County jails, release criteria now call for female offenders to be freed after serving 10% of their projected sentence. So for an inmate who, like Hilton, was sentenced to 45 days, serving no more than four days would be the norm.

It’s a shame that Baca directly contradicts that claim. He’s on video saying that overcrowding was in no way a factor...

OK, so LA prisons are so overcrowded that it’s common knowledge that anyone sentenced to 45 days only serves a "tiny fraction" of the sentence...

And Hilton’s lawyers, who should have been keenly aware of this supposed fact, would create a "medical" incident to extract their client from incarceration rather than telling her to suck it up a few more days? I don’t buy it...

Sheriff Joe (Maricopa, AZ) offered to incarcerate her for the duration... we’d love to host her in our jails just to get her face off the air for a few weeks.

This is not about overcrowding... I smell red herring.

Free Paris? I want a Free Paris! Although, I don’t know what I’d do with her, seeing as how she’s not good for much that I could use her for, with me being female and all.
