Hey, Greenwald is the most perceptive thinker in the blogosphere. And if you don’t believe it, just ask him. He’ll tell you. Several times. Using a bunch of different names. |

Sorry, but a single counterexample does not disprove the general proposition. You need to study up on elementary logic. |

Greenwald vomits:That the Bush administration, and specifically its military commanders, decided to begin using the term "Al Qaeda" to designate "anyone and everyeone (sic) we fight against or kill in Iraq" is obvious. All of a sudden, every time one of the top military commanders describes our latest operations or quantifies how many we killed, the enemy is referred to, almost exclusively now, as "Al Qaeda." Read it again, paying close attention to what I bolded.
The entire briefing from LTG Ray Odierno used the phrases "al Qaeda, Sunni insurgents and Shi’a extremists" several times, or terms that mean "lots of different groups".
That constitutes direct contradiction of Greenwald’s claim. You’ll also note that it isn’t US Military reports about the # of kills we see, it’s the AP version. Would you care to wager what words get dropped out of the Military reports before they hit the general Wire?
I’ll ask a buddy who used to write releases for the army in Afghanistan if he can hook me up with some recent releases, and we’ll compare, ok? |

It’s amazing anyone takes Glenn "Ellison" Greenwald seriously anymore.
Prmoting the idea that our military commanders are falsely attributing enemy action to Al Qaeda is as disgustingly unpatriotic as it is ignorant. But his audience will lap it up unquestioningly. |

Sorry, but a single counterexample does not disprove the general proposition. You need to study up on elementary logic. Given the general proposition that "All cats are black", a single counterexample of a gray cat disproves the proposition.
Oddly enough, I learned that in an elementary logic class... |

Oddly enough, I learned that in an elementary logic class... And you or we should care about this why? All you have done is imbide the twisted mindset of the phallicentric, mega-technic, monopoly finance capitalistic system that rapes poor Gaia and destroys the lives and hopes of the Poor, the People of Colour, Womyan, Lesbians, Gays, and the Trans-Gendered.
Death to your mental poison of so-called logic, the tool designed to De-Legitimitize the more Earth-centred "Female Way of Knowing." The tool to propagate the False Consciousness of "reason", "evidence" and the like....
Shame on you Billy Hollis... I name thee an Enemy of Gaia and All Who Love Her, by the Goddess I bring a fatwa on your head! |

Sorry, but a single counterexample does not disprove the general proposition. You need to study up on elementary logic. That’s why two links were provided to Confederate Yankee who provides multiple examples destroying Greenwald’s premise. As I pointed out I was only adding to his. And what I added is pretty d*mning.
That said, you need a little refresher in reading comprehension.

Every time... Almost exclusively...
Hmmm, by this measure, almost any use of "Al Qaeda" will fit, even if another term is used some other times...
Logically, if we are purposely targeting al Qaeda, then it would make sense that most of those killed and captured were in fact, al Qaeda, or suspected al Qaeda. |

Actually, this doesn’t make any sense in terms of a meaningful standard... This is the Greenwald "Dodge" that Limbaugh uses..."Almost ALWAYS right, 99.87% of the time" "Almost" grants the wiggle room..."almost exclusively" is the wiggle term here...so any use of NOT AQ is covered by "Almost exclusively"....Greenwald is no Dope. |

Greenwald, actually, has an enormous following.
This is what is so scary. He’s not a bad writer, and so people miss the flaws in his logic.
What gets me is the idiotic assumption that 2% of the population can’t thoroughly mess things up for the other 98%. Try being in a classroom with one child who screams for 2 hours straight. Is that disruptive?
Or at Va. Tech when one student decides to take a gun and go on a rampage. But hey - he was in the minority. We (apparently) should not be concerned about him.
He has rights. He’s an individual, and as we all know the individual is powerless against society.
