He needs to look up the definition of dictator again. Venezuela’s legislature gave Chavez the ability to rule by decree for one year. How is rule by executive fiat not the textbook definition of a "dictator"? Now you could argue that he is a benevolent dictator not a malevolent dictator or some such, but he is still a dictator in one form or another. |

"Dictatorship" means property-owning, voluntary society. E.g, dictatorship = Wal-Mart.
"Democratic" means communist dictatorship. E.g. Cuba/Gulagville = Democracy.
You are both using different dictionaries. That’s the issue here. |

When you’re of my political persuasion you get used to it. Well if you’re going to tout it, it’s best to quit whining when you get what you expect.Hugo Chavez is not a dictator. I have seen absolutely no evidence to back that claim up. Well then you’re not very familiar with what constitutes a dictatorship. But here’s a hint: ruling by decree is one of the big indicators. Another is stomping on freedom of the press.
But if that’s not enough, start here for an explanation of how it has come to pass that Hugo Chavez is now the dictator of Venezuela. Then there’s violating property rights, etc., etc.

Bush is called a dictator so much by liberals, they think THAT is what a dictator is. Since Chavez is NOTHING like the current government we "enjoy" (for varing degrees of the word), Chavez isn’t a dictator.
