Sometimes you just can’t make this stuff up
Posted by: McQ on Wednesday, July 04, 2007

If he'd been in a real car he might have been able to outrun the cops:
The 24-year-old son of former Vice President Al Gore was arrested for drug possession on Wednesday after he was stopped for allegedly speeding in his hybrid Toyota Prius, a sheriff's official said.

Al Gore III — whose father is a leading advocate of policies to fight global warming — was driving his environmentally friendly car at about 100 miles per hour on a freeway south of Los Angeles when he was pulled over by an Orange County sheriff's deputy at about 2:15 a.m.
And he had quite stash:
A subsequent search yielded a small amount of marijuana, along with prescription drugs including Valium, Xanax, Vicodin and Adderall, said sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino. There were no prescriptions found, he said.
Can't wait to hear the environmentally friendly excuse for this.

100 mph? In a Prius? There had to have been an 80 mph tailwind.

I wonder if he’ll get a harsher sentence than Scooter Libby....or even Paris Hilton.

Come on, this isn’t Al Gore Junior, the former vice president, we’re talking about here. I don’t like Al either, but let’s not condemn him (or make fun of him) for something his son did. Or make fun of the son just because of who his father is.

Rory, are you kidding? First, no one’s making fun of the former VP over this. Second, do you remember in the not too distant past when some restaurant manager called 911 because the Bush tiwns were cuaght using fake IDs? Do you remember the sanctimony directed at President Bush because of that? They weren’t driving drunk or stashing drugs or driving at extremely dangerous speeds, they were just college girls getting a drink.

Get off you high horse, the story is funny.

Have you seen his mug shot?

Add 40 pounds, a gay beard, and 30 years, and he’s the spitting image of his moron father...

His chemical recreation is ok because his family is offsetting it by purchasing and running a rehab clinic.

For a profit of course.

No? Then what is the purpose of the statement "Can’t wait to hear the environmentally friendly excuse for this"?

Yes, I do remember that, and I thought the same thing then: W should not be made fun of because of the behavior of his daughters, and vice versa. I willingly mock Al Gore Junior for his hypocrisy (and lying and distortions of science and ...), so we should not be hypocritical ourselves.

That’s a shot at environmentalists, not Gore himself. Come on, he was driving a Prius. Develop thicker skin, already.
