Posted by: Jon Henke on Saturday, July 07, 2007 Reading an old edition of The Economist this morning, and in a story about New York City subway upgrades, I came across an astounding statement - a perfect encapsulation of the snotty, over-indulged entitlement mentality. Behold, in all its pampered glory, the Common North American Rent Seeker... Some people, like the Straphangers Campaign, a riders' advocacy group, worry that passengers will ultimately have to bear the cost.Unfortunately, there's not an equivalent campaign for, say, Kansans who will never, ever ride the New York Subway but, due to efforts of the Straphangers Campaign and their many enablers, will be forced to pay for it anyway. |
