He explained it in a post on Volokh:
molon labe, montani semper liberi, ¶ fides paternae patria
According to Wikipedia, molon labe is Greek for "Come [and] take [them}", or roughly, "over my dead body"
montani semper liberi is the motto of West Virginia, "The mountaineers are always free"
para fides paternae patri (I’m not looking this one up, trying to remember my Latin from 30+ years ago) means "for the faith of our fathers’ fatherland"
