The PAO for the 1ID at FOB Falcon writes The Weekly Standard's Michael Goldfarb: We are in the midst of a formal investigation into the allegations Pvt Beauchamp has made. That's all I can say for now.Well, good. I'm really curious to know what the deal is behind this. To me, his stories just don't have the ring of authenticity. And some of the facts simply don't add up. For instance, the FOB Falcon PAO has already denied that any mass grave has been found in their Area of responsibility during the time in question. And, of course, the idea that you can drive over dogs in an M2 Bradley at will seems hardly in the realm of physical possibility. Assuming that the Vehicle commander would let you do a bit of dog-chasing in the first place, which, if I was the vehicle commander, I certainly wouldn't. Not unless I was seriously looking forward to the possibility of trying to change a broken track in the middle of Indian Country, not mention running over an IED. We'll keep watching, that's for sure, if for no other reason than to see who gets court-martialed. |
