QandO – 4th Blogoversary
Posted by: McQ on Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Yup, today we begin our fifth year. It doesn’t seem possible. And within a few weeks we’ll have, per SiteMeter, our 4 millionth visitor. And yes our server stats show about 5 times that number of unique visitors, but hey, everyone can relate to SiteMeter so that’s fine. So we’re somewhere between our 4 and 20th million visitor. ;)

Jon started QandO on a blogspot site. About the time he chose to roll it over to another blog platform I joined. Then Dale and now Billy and Bryan.

For me it has truly been a blast. I remember telling Jon when he invited me to join him that I’d probably post about once or twice a week. Heh ...
It has also provided an outlet by which I can vent, pontificate, whine, shout, shake my fist, and generally have my say in whatever way I wish. Beats paying for therapy.
Blogging is, at least for me, very fulfilling and enjoyable. Trust me if it wasn’t I wouldn’t be doing it. Just as enjoyable, however, is the interaction it engenders with other blogs, commenters and people from all walks of life. It has given me some pretty good opportunities that a few years ago I wouldn’t have dreamed it could have provided me.

It has also provided an outlet by which I can vent, pontificate, whine, shout, shake my fist, and generally have my say in whatever way I wish. Beats paying for therapy.

I’ve also enjoyed my co-bloggers immensely. Folks we’ve never, ever, not once, not freakin’ ever had an “editorial meeting” to say who is going to write about what or what we should say. On the other hand, the rule of thumb is, “you say it, you get to defend it”, although we have been known to help out in the comment section if we’re on board with the premise. And we have been known to figuratively duke it out among ourselves on certain topics – but that is one of the joys of this particular blog.

Last, but certainly not least, I think we have as a group, the best bunch of commenters around. A good and diverse group who, for the most part, keep a sense of humor and at least attempt to limit the name-calling as well as cranking up some pretty darn good discussions at times.

So. There it is. 4 years old and still cracking. The older but no wiser “QandO”.

Congratulations. And, even though it’s something that you enjoy, I’d like to thank all of you for taking the time to do it. You guys provide a great service by picking the biased crap from the MSM apart for dummies like me to understand what’s really going on.

He11, we wouldn’t even have a blog if it wasn’t for your comments section. So thanks on that score as well!

Again, congrats.

Congratulations!

And it’s good to see Jon Henke’s writings again. I was wondering where he disappeared to…

We thought … you was … a toad.

Cheers.

It’s a good blog. McQ works very hard at it. I call him the "gentleman scholar," and he’s exactly that. A gentleman and a scholar.

Congrats on another birthday...

QandO is by far my 2nd favorite blog.

It is nice that most people here can disagree without being disagreeable.
