What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been
Posted by: Dale Franks on Wednesday, August 29, 2007

On 28 Mar 2002, I wrote my very first blog entry at my web site.
Aaah. My first blog ever. Now I know the power of joining the blogger revolution! We'll see how long this lasts...
That was my start at blogging, at a blog I named "The Review", and it's lasted for longer than I thought it would.

At the time I started The Review, I already knew Jon—via email, anyway—since we belonged to a few of the same newsgroups. I left the newsgroup world not long after I started blogging, and after a while, Jon followed me, starting up QandO on blogger on this date in 2003.

We kept in touch, but kept separate blogs.

Then, Jon asked Bruce—with whom he was also acquainted through the newsgroup world—to come over and blog at the new QandO web site when Jon left blogger.

I helped out with the transition, on that move, giving Jon some help with Movable type, and helping to set up the web site's CSS template.

Finally, in June 2004, Jon asked me if there was some way we could consolidate our two blogs into one. So, after two years+ of blogging at The Review, I shut it down after a bit of thought, and came over here.

It's been a great experience, and I'd like to thank everyone for reading the blog, and being part of our growing audience. I especially want to thank the readers, not only those of QandO, but also those who moved over from The Review with me, and who, five and a half years after I started writing these nasty little screeds, are still here.

I’ve always wondered ... are blog years like dog years?

Hey, I for one am very glad you guys started this blog. What I’ve read here or through links I found here has dramatically shaped and influenced my political philosophy, for the better, if I do say so myself (and I do). I appreciate it.
