Glenn Greenwald’s piece on the Kagan family is such a concise, elegant, tight portrait of everything that is wrong with the warmongers who lead this country and dominate our political discourse that it almost makes your teeth hurt.

Heh ... can you name a single time Glenn Greenwald has ever written a 'concise' anything? He has the elegance of a sledge-hammer and a "tight portrait" for him would involve only 3,000 words in 17 gigantic sentences instead of 5,000.

What made my teeth hurt was the rapid expulsion of the beverage I was drinking when I read that.

[BTW, the essence of the Greenwald piece is "Fred and Robert Kagen are chickenhawks and Jim Webb is not", if you're really that interested in a "concise, elegant, tight portrait" of Greenwald's screed.]

In Greenwald’s defense, the piece she links is less than 750 words. For him, that’s practically a haiku.

But you’ve got to admit, Jim ... his entire argument could be boiled down to the sentence at the end of my post (and I have to wonder if he’s not getting edited now since 750 is a pretty standard word count for opinion pieces).

Jim Webb may not be a chickenhawk, but considering that Greenwald’s views on the Vietnam War are as viciously divergent from his as his views on Iraq are from the Kagan’s, where is the vitriol for Webb? I think the Great Darned One’s outrage might be more political than his moral preening might suggest.
