Proto-Python
Posted by: McQ on Thursday, October 11, 2007

Ace makes a nice find:
Before Python, Cleese and Chapman worked with Marty Feldman and some guy who would go on to to "The Goodies" (remember them?) in "At Last the 1948 Show." They did the "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch there, which would later be seen in The Secret Policeman's Ball and various Monty Python live shows.
Below is that "Four Yourkshiremen" sketch from the "At Last the 1948 Show". BTW, if you never got to see "The Goodies", it was pretty darn funny as well.

Ace also his some other links to the '48 show as well.

don’t suppose you recall the Marty Feldmen show that ran on US TV for a while do you?

Which may have been a repackaging of stuff they did in the UK.

Goodies - oh yes, but so much of what they did is totally NOT P.C.
I haven’t even seen it come to DVD (course then I don’t consistently look for it either).

The 1948 show IS on DVD.

There are a few skits from the Comedy Factory show on Youtube as well.

Still,;, I’m rather surprised that the, the factory never made it to DVD. Come to think of it, I don’t recall it making it into syndication beyond 77.

Sad.
