Kucinich to introduce impeachment resolution against VP
Posted by: McQ on Monday, November 05, 2007

Yes the perennial Democratic presidential candidate and chief House moonbat will waste time tomorrow introducing a "privileged resolution" to bring articles of impeachment against the VP:
“The momentum is building for impeachment,” Kucinich said. “Millions of citizens across the nation are demanding Congress rein in the Vice President’s abuse of power.

“Despite this groundswell of opposition to the unconstitutional conduct of office, Vice President Cheney continues to violate the U.S. Constitution by insisting the power of the executive branch is supreme.

“Congress must hold the Vice President accountable. The American people need to let Members of Congress know how they feel about this. The Vice President continues to use his office to advocate for a continued occupation of Iraq and prod our nation into a belligerent stance against Iran. If the Vice President is successful, his actions will ensure decades of disastrous consequences.”
A privileged resolution is a right of any House member bringing impeachment charges:
A member submitting a privileged resolution, memorial or motion proposing impeachment is entitled to recognition for one hour in which to debate it. A member recognized to present a privileged resolution may not be taken from the floor by a motion to refer.
So tomorrow, Kucinich will force himself on stage for his hour of power and attempt to build the case for the impeachment of Dick Cheney (You know Cheney don't you? He's Obama's cousin.).

So what happens then?
Once having submitted an impeachment resolution against a civil officer, then that member's high privilege has expired.
Ah, you say, give the gremlin his hour of fame and then he'll go away.

Don't bet on it:
This rule apparently does not apply if the member files an amended impeachment resolution containing new charges or other new matters.
So this could end up being a reoccurring drama given Kucinich's penchant for attempting to keep impeachment in the forefront of the news. This, to me, seems to be his newest strategy.

And:
Even when an impeachment resolution does not contain within it a referral to a committee for inquiry or investigation, it appears to be the normal procedure for such a resolution to be referred to an appropriate committee — even when the resolution clearly has absolutely no support in the full House.
Presently the Kucinich effort has the support of 21 cosponsors who read like the Who's Who of the far left. And, of course, this will be just one more waste of time that will be hung on the 110th Congress as the worst "do nothing" Congress in memory. But again, I bring this up with mixed feelings since when they're engaged in time wasting nonsense like this in the House, they're not passing laws taking more of my money or curtailing my liberty.

So, despite all of my rhetoric decrying such nonsense as this, as long as it serves gridlock I have to give a provisional shout out to Kucinich: "go, Dennis, go"! In this case, provisional support for the moonbat left's effort at impeachment is a good thing. And I figure by the time Kucinich finishes up, Pelosi will be about to explode. That's always enjoyable as well.

These are the only specific charges Kucinich makes on his website, apparently. But these are only disagreements in policy, not high crimes or misdemeanors. Unless Kucinich wants to argue that disagreeing with the Democratic Party is a high crime.

Kucinich has found a way to make todays Dems look even more spiteful than the Republicans of 1998.

Let me guess, after the big 60 minutes spot the WMD information on Iraq being all wrong (or lies), Dick Cheney and misleading information about Iraq’s WMD program will feature prominantly in his speach on the topic.

But that’ll be just a coincidence.

This should have all the moonbats diving for their mothers’ checkbooks. Long-shot campaigns don’t pay for themselves, you know.

This is NOT a waste of time—our constitution is at stake. How can we allow this admininistration to continue lying and ignoring the rule of law?

A waste of time is the MoveOn.org resolution where censorship reined on the house floor. They need to stand and protect this country from this
destructive administration.

Even France knows the deal—they will arrest Rummy if he ever shows his ugly face in Paris again. Too bad this congress is so cowered it won’t stick up for us.

It is? I assume you have specifics, because Kucinich sure doesn’t. He could use you help.

It did? So, uh, has MoveOn been shut down and no longer able to communicate?

Good lord, how many investigations has Waxman initiated? And what has he turned up?

I thought for sure shark had written this to be snarky, but interestingly enough, it seems to have been written by a real moon bat. Wow...

But, the good Congresswoman Diane Watson (D-Culver City) told us that the need 285 or 290 votes to avoid a possible veto. LOL

What irony. The administration that was the biggest threat to the constitution was FDRs.
