Michael Yon does a "Consumer Reports"
Posted by: McQ on Monday, November 05, 2007

Yon talks about his choice of cameras for combat photography. In this dispatch he talks about his Nikon D70 (FYI he is now using a Canon MkII).

My favorite chuckle line:
I’m legendary for being the first on the ground. I never hesitated to jump on the D70. That little camera deserves a medal for continuing to work after all the beatings it took.
Heh ... the way you remain "legendary" is being the first on the ground. Read the whole thing. He includes a bunch of great photos with the report.

He’s probably being modest.

IIRC, he got into some trouble for picking up a weapon and charging into a room to take out some enemy combatants who had a wounded US soldier pinned down.

Yes he did. And he is being modest which is why it’s such a funny line. But there’s more truth to it than you might think ... and that’s called ’experience’. Has nothing to do with bravery or courage, it has to do with staying alive.
