And if the parent is on welfare and can’t pay for the added tax burden, will the taxpayers have to cover it? |

Lets apply this tax to countries whose birth rate is above replacement. Then tie agw aid into compliance, exceed replacement, no aid from the developed world. Once they are in compliance, we could expand it to the rest of the world. I would love to hear the howls of outrage from the thugs in Bali at this suggestion. |

They should get together with Hillary; didn’t she want to credit everyone $5000 per baby? |

I can see it now, pregnant Ozzies coming by the planeload to deliver in the US, collect their $5 bones from madam president, flying back to Oz with a newly minted US citizen on their hands, and then claiming dual citizenship for the spronk. Brilliant! |

I guess China is to be our model. That should please both the environmental lobby and the abortion lobby. |

Could we purchase "baby offsets" from places such as Italy where the birth rate is at historic lows and way less than replacement rate? |

Wow....did you get cool outfits to wear? With an S or something?
So, this baby offset thing, you must have an idea how that’s going to trade, being on the inside of the scheme. Can we purchase futures for this yet? Any idea how they’re going to price it - you know $/head or what?
Is this like the crop conservation thing, paid not to have kids just like paid not to grow crops.
Is this credit going to apply to women only, for not having them do you think?
or or....can guys get in on it by agreeing not to get women pregnant. For example, if I promise not to get 10,000 women pregnant , what’s the payout on that? Do you think it’ll be a yearly thing? Probably huh?
Maybe we can get a stud potential rating, you know, I mean, some of us are probably more likely to be in a position (as it were) to get women pregnant than others, and I think the guys with a higher potential ought to get a higher subsidy from the government.
Crap, suppose they don’t do it that way ...and instead they make you carry a card around and get signatures from all the women you didn’t get pregnant during the previous year to be submitted at tax time. Will there be a limit to how many times a day a woman can sign the card? Do repeats count or can she only sign your card once a day? Probably going to require a timestamping mechanism of some kind... and have to establish reasonable time period for...um...not getting them pregnant in.
Yeah, I can see that guys are going to be out of this equation totally. The women are going to end up getting all the credits at the end of the year for not getting pregnant just because it’s simpler to implement!
It’s not fair, I’m tellin ya! DISCRIMINATION! |

OTOH, childless couples have done nothing to help keep social programs solvent. So they should be punished. If every Boomer had replaced themselves social security would not be in crisis.
Also, they forget that today’s rugrat is tomorrows physicist/medical researcher/inventor. |

This is golden.
Remember those glaciers in Greenland that were melting. Gore et al told us is was part of the CO2 problem. Now, it appears that "settled science" gives way to the magna problem. |
