A split among the Taliban?
Posted by: McQ on Sunday, December 30, 2007

Perhaps, perhaps not, but anything which adds to turmoil within their organization and causes other members to choose sides is a good thing in terms of degrading their operational effectiveness:
A key Taliban commander reportedly kicked out of the militia believes the dismissal order is a conspiracy against him and has not been signed off by Taliban leader Mullah Omar, his spokesman said Sunday.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid on Saturday said that Mansoor Dadullah, a militant commander in southern Afghanistan, had been kicked out of the Islamic militia for "disobeying orders" and conducting activities "against the Taliban's rules and regulations." Mujahid did not provide any details.

A spokesman for Dadullah said Sunday that Dadullah has refused to accept the dismissal order, which he called a conspiracy.

"Mullah Omar is the Taliban supreme commander. We will always obey his orders. But this message, this order, is not from Mullah Omar," Muhibullah Mahajir told The Associated Press.

Mujahid reiterated on Sunday that the order came from Omar and said he would soon provide an audio clip with Omar ordering Dadullah out of the militia.
These sorts of events can sometimes be significant depending on how popular the militant commander is that's being targeted. And, being the violent sort they are, in a best case scenario it could lead to internal violence and even assassinations.

Something to monitor.

O/t but had to post somewhere - CA State Senator carjacked at gunpoint. His taxpayer provided car was an 06 dodge charger with 22’’ rims. Plus: he campaigns against guns but had CCW permit

I’m so glad they contacted the AP. Now we know the "real" story.

Before America began it’s decline, sparked by our Neo-Con Social Engineers, this would have NEVER have happened....Our enemies NEVER splintered, did the Japanese, OK Tojo lost his job, or the Italians, OK Badoglio came to power, or Hitler, Ok there was Stauffenberg, but still in the old days of American ascendency this never happened. How we have declined....

So is there some kind of Labour Relations Board for this sort of thing? And if there isn’t WHY isn’t there? I think that a responsible world would institute such a beastie, under UN auspices. I’m hoping that John Edwards, Hillary, or Obama Hussein will take the lead in proposing such a program, possibly as a coicil to the Kyoto Treaty.

hmmm, sounds like a weakness that could be exploited by psy-ops. Sending fake orders about, watch the reaction, gain more intel, catch/kill the bad guys.

That’s the problem with you Neo-Con, Chicken Hawks, Keith, you focus on KILLING...I’d rather focus on healing, PLUS, what with our decline, brought on by You-Know-Who’s, Absolute Policy Debacle in You-Know-Where, the United States, has neither the reach nor the credibility to exploit anything in Afghanistan. Only the UN or the Eu could attempt to achieve anything worthwhile in the short-run. I am encouraged that the US is coming around to my more reasonable and erudite position, but will we come around in time for my Spring Mid-Terms, so I can ask the question, "Who is smarter, a Maine College Professor or the POTUS: provide examples of my brillaince, reference all writings, on-line and in-class, couter-poised to the Chimp’s Mal-Apropisms and Disastrous Foreign Policy Decisions, especially lin the Mesopatamian RIver Basin Region."?
