Nah, see, he has to be right, of course she derived it from the British use of the word ’poof’ to mean a homosexual. I mean, after all, no one ever called hair poofy before meaning it was, puffy looking or fly away. Donald Trumps combover always strikes me as what I once would have described as poofy hair, but I don’t think Trump is a homosexual so I can’t say that anymore.
It would seem that even though I’m an American, and use American words like boot to mean my footwear, or bonnet, to mean a woman’s old tyme hat, what I must really mean when I say boot is the trunk of a car, and when I say bonnet I mean the ’hood’. And, now, like the word gay, to mean happy or cheery, I can no longer say someone’s hair is ’poofy’ unless I mean that I think they’re... gay.
Thank God Glen is here to correctly interpret, drawing on his knowledge of all references homosexual and vast array of true English meanings for words to determine what an American writer means when they use words in an American media source, for an American audience who largely are unaware of English slang for homosexuals. |
