OK, screw that - to the picks: Democrats: I think the weather will cooperate, the turnout will be mostly new caucus goers and, that being the case, Obama will squeek out a narrow win over Hillary Clinton, with Edwards coming in third. Republicans: Now that this thing is actually going to happen and people actually have to stand by their choice, I think Huckabee will fade into 2nd place, Romney will take it and Fred Thompson will place a surprising third. Of course if you saw the record of my bowl predictions, you wouldn't take these too seriously. And I'd also remind you that other than George Bush in 2000 and Jimmy Carter in 1976, those who've won Iowa have rarely shown up in the Oval office. |
