Media Matters: More scalp hunting (UPDATE)

If you've ever watched Chris Matthews of "Hardball", you get the idea that at several points in each show the linkage between brain and mouth are disconnected. What comes out of his piehole is sometimes startling and, per Media Matters, displays deep-seated problems with women Per MM:

Using overtly sexist language, he has referred to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) as a "she devil" and compared her to a "strip-teaser." He has called her "witchy" and likened her voice to "fingernails on a blackboard." He has referred to men who support her as "castratos in the eunuch chorus." He has suggested Clinton is not "a convincing mom" and said "modern women" like Clinton are unacceptable to "Midwest guys." He has called her "Madame Defarge" and "Nurse Ratched."

Now Matthews has never been confused as a 'right-winger'. But he again demonstrates how much of what the left claims to despise about the right lives (and apparently prospers) on the left. And, of course, the ties between Media Matters and the Clintons is both well-known and documented.

So the fact that MM is going after Matthews should surprise no one. Additionally it should come as no surprise that MM can issue an "action alert" and get left blogospheric support immediately. Just float the magic word "sexism" in your attack and they flock to the cause like flies to ....

Others take a more cautious "change the channel" approach, which makes more sense to me. As pointed out by Talk Left, it's all about ratings, and if the left is so upset with Matthews, they ought to turn the guy off.

But it is much more fun, instead, to follow the lead of Media Matters and seek another scalp for their collective belt.

On the night of the New Hampshire primary, MSNBC put Obermann in charge of the coverage with Matthews sitting there as sidekick, and it was clear, to me at least, that Matthews was not liking it. He didn’t like playing second fiddle to a sportscaster with the intellect of a parrot.

Matthews has gone from a fasttalkin’ guy with some backroom experience who knew the rough side of politics. But now he’s trying to keep up with the very thing that he created on MSNBC, trying to talk faster and match the most obstreperous voices on the Left.

I don’t know if you caught his appearance with Jon Stewart. (I might have seen the video here, but I don’t recall.) Matthews was there to promote his new book. I forget the title. But Stewart essentially pulled Matthews’ pants down, without mercy, and made a laughingstock of him. It was brutal. I don’t think that Matthews will ever recover from it.

Karma. Matthews had a little incident with Michelle Malkin when she was on his show to promote a book. He deserves whatever he gets.

I for one hope the Leftists pound this ’sexism’ thing like it was a red-headed step-child. Why? Because I’ve seen people like my lovely wife and her friends get ever more turned off by the shrill, harpy-like attitude it displays. They are pretty uniformly ’feminists’ in the sense that they want to be in charge of their own lives, and do with them what they want, and be repaid appropriately. Every one of them seethes whenever the idiot bunch on the Left starts harping on their version of ’feminism’, which is apparently some unholy amalgamation of male-bashing and I-need-to-be-protected-because-I’m-a-woman attitudes. Ha! Go for it, moonbats.
