Yes, because brown people never do bad things. Nor do yellow people.
Jong hasn’t been relevant since the 70s. If she even was then. |

In the Middle East the Arabs actually call white people’s skin tone pink. When I first heard that I looked at my skin and thought "Yeah, it fits" (nobody’s ever accused me of being swarthy).
Of course, then the other shoe dropped. The Arabic word for pink?

When the Pink man gets tired of women like Erica Jong, they just find another woman and leave her alone to prattle on to herself.
When the Brown man gets tired of women like Erica Jong, they kill her.
I suggest if she’s so tired of us pinkies, she go find herself a brown man |

I’m not defending the particular substance of the rant as generally valid by any stretch, but there’s a certain rhythm to it, a frustration (born of ignorance, perhaps), that is simply something a lot of people think. Yea, the viewing of the world in terms of races is, well, primitive.
And then there was the rest of it:And by the way some brown men and tan men and wheaten men do these things too.
Don’t tell me about women who kill. I know there are some—but fewer. So let’s just remember our mothers—who bore us, protected us against our fathers and grandfathers and all the pink or brown men who wanted to rape us or kill us or starve us because we were girls.
I am not stupid. I know all generalizations are false. I know there are bad mothers, bad women, bad sisters, bad aunts, and bad females of every stripe. But I have seen enough men in high office to last a lifetime. Let’s give women a chance!
There’s substantially more truth to that, and context, so I wonder why you left it out as it’s so crucial to honest context and is substantially less than the part you posted.
Why not let’s just deal with the facts?
Throughout history, the same macro brutality we all know has happened just as systematically to many women at a micro-societal level, the vast majority of it never known to the world. Think about it; think about how that terror vs. security transmits as a gene down through the ages.
I once had a guy explain to me what he though was the fundamental essential difference between men and women: "women live 24/7 viscerally understanding that physically, they live at the behest of men, that almost any man can snuff them out at will." Men have no concept of such a metaphysical reality, no more than they do of pregnancy and childbirth.
I guess: let the women have their rants. It’s not wholly unjustified.

protected us against our fathers and grandfathers and all the pink or brown men who wanted to rape us or kill us or starve us because we were girls. Richard, do you really think this is a fair description of men’s relationships to their daughters and granddaughters?
I know some men do those things. But that’s quite a big brush to use on all fathers.
As a father, I’m offended that you would even think this statement is justified. |

I am so tired... I am so tired... I am so tired... I am so tired... I am so tired... Well that much, Erica, is obvious as hell. Definitely tired. Spent, even.
And just plain g*d*amned out of your mind to push the whole preposterous bit quite this far: So let’s just remember our mothers—who bore us, protected us against our fathers and grandfathers and all the pink or brown men who wanted to rape us or kill us or starve us because we were girls. Our fathers and grandfathers? I suspect I’m like a lot of women reading this in that having some played out mindless hate-filled whining old hag presume anything about my father and grandfathers — and my mother, of course, as well — makes me angry in a way that you’re clearly too worn out and used up — and f*cking dim to begin with — to understand.
Ridiculous arrogant b*tch. |

I’m tired of pink women pretending they know of the world outside their affluent costal cocoon, based upon the writings of other pink women who learned about the travails of non-pink women by attending pink colleges, whose predominantly pink professors teach the next generation of pink women what it is really like being non-pink.
I may vote for Obama just to piss off the identity politic constrained leftist that thinks a woman whose chief experience, wife of a governor/president, deserves to be President just because she is a DEMOCRAT woman.
Far too many can’t accept that others have really heard their spiel, and rejected it... much easier to construct evil caricatures of ’the opponent’ nefariously prevented (by Rove et.al.) from hearing the REAL truth. |

"...our mothers—who bore us, protected us from fathers and... men who wanted to rape us or kill us or starve us"
Unfortunately, they very often don’t. :-(
Girls who are in situations where they are in particular danger from men are usually put there *by* their mother and their mother’s choices.
Girls who face threats external to the family usually have male and female protectors, both. And those who take jobs specifically as protectors are most often men. |

Several archaeologists and anthropologists now argue that violence was much more pervasive in hunter-gatherer society than in more recent eras. From the !Kung in the Kalahari to the Inuit in the Arctic and the aborigines in Australia, two-thirds of modern hunter-gatherers are in a state of almost constant tribal warfare, and nearly 90% go to war at least once a year. War is a big word for dawn raids, skirmishes and lots of posturing, but death rates are high—usually around 25-30% of adult males die from homicide...
Not so many women as men die in warfare, it is true. But that is because they are often the object of the fighting. To be abducted as a sexual prize was almost certainly a common female fate in hunter-gatherer society. Forget the Garden of Eden; think Mad Max. The Economist, "Hunter-gatherers: Noble or Savage?" One can just as well argue that all men know in their genes know that they are expendable and likely to die defending the tribe, including the women.
We’re all tired of war, but we are, as humans, getting better at not killing each other. The project is coming along more slowly than we would like, but progress is being made. |

Richard Nikoley: There’s substantially more truth to that, and context, so I wonder why you left it out as it’s so crucial to honest context and is substantially less than the part you posted.
Why not let’s just deal with the facts? The problem with that "context" is that it is bulls**t. The basic facts are: nature’s basic economics placed women in a position of being almost property, and "pink men’s" culture changed this.
Richard Nikoley: Throughout history, the same macro brutality we all know has happened just as systematically to many women at a micro-societal level, the vast majority of it never known to the world. Think about it; think about how that terror vs. security transmits as a gene down through the ages. I have, but I don’t think you quite get it.
Women, it seems, play this to best advantage. Witness, say, Pocohontas or Malitzin. They have more ability to switch cultures / tribes as required, but typically less authority in either culture / tribe. It’s a double-edged sword.
Modern Western culture, largely due to the actions of "pink men", has significantly eliminated the advantage of men with respect to women.
Richard Nikoley: I once had a guy explain to me what he though was the fundamental essential difference between men and women: "women live 24/7 viscerally understanding that physically, they live at the behest of men, that almost any man can snuff them out at will." Men have no concept of such a metaphysical reality, no more than they do of pregnancy and childbirth. In modern society, almost anyone can "snuff out" anyone else at will. You have heard of "firearms", right? However, with the modern justice system created by "pink men", you can’t just "snuff out" someone and expect to get away with it. And, in particular, women are protected: restraining orders, sexual harrasment rules, etc., are designed to protect women.
If women cower in fear of men, I sure see little sign of it. |

Men have no concept of such a metaphysical reality . . . Riiiight.
I notice a politness among men more so than between men and women (or women and women). In fact, I notice a sort of double standard, where women seem to expect special treatment.
Women can do things that would get the cr*p beaten out of a man.
Now, I don’t think that’s bad per se, but it makes a joke of women trying to wear a generic victim badge. |

Ace of Spades blog has a post up about a man who caught his 18 year old step-son anally raping is 8 year old daughter. Instead of killing him on the spot he called the cops, had the boy arrested, and made sure his daughter got to the hospital.
He wanted no one to help the boy.
His *wife*... the woman that Erica Jong lauds for protecting her daughter from fathers and grandfathers and men who want to rape and kill them... paid bail.
(Presumably protecting your daughter from brothers wasn’t one of the attributes we’re supposed to be grateful to women for.)
The father picked his step-son up from jail, drove somewhere remote, and beat him with a baseball bat and anally raped him with a tool.
The *way* men protect their daughters isn’t always pretty, but it sure as HELL is an improvement over the way a MOTHER protects her daughter by making sure her eight year old daughter’s rapist doesn’t have to spend more than one night in jail.
Was she going to let the boy come *home*?
Oh, by all means the father is violent and there is no reason at all to think that the mother is violent or has ever been violent.
So? |

Richard, darling, men are brutalized a lot more than women in this world. In western countries, women are sheltered and pampered and we like it that way. If we upper middle class princesses pretend we are victims, it’s because it gets us even more tribute and ransom.
These days, men live in fear of raising another man’s child unaware——and then when he checks and finds out he’s right, the courts make him pay child support after the divorce. |
