As inept as Alberto Gonzales? Probably not. But for all his ineptness, Gonzales was pretty benign as an AG.
But dangerous? Imagine Edwards pursuing his personal agenda in the same manner as Bobby Kennedy did when Jimmy Hoffa and organized crime was in the AG’s gunsights.
So much so that I can imagine the day when people would look back fondly upon the Gonzales days. |

I can’t imagine a more dangerous person as AG. Elliot Spitzer springs to mind, and the way he abused his NY position to climb into the gov seat...
But yeah, Edwards would be terrible. |

The irony is that unions would support him all the while trial lawyers sued their employers into bankruptcy. |

The unions and the trial lawyers just *know* that money pit has no bottom, and you can just keep hauling billions of dollars from it indefinitely with no danger to anyone but ’the rich’. Sheesh. |

Let’s get one thing straight, Albert Gonzales wasn’t inept. He did exactly what the thought his job was and he did it well: Be a slave to the Whitehouse and protect the president from any fallout. Now to do this he had to fall on his sword by pretending not to have any idea what his department was doing or even what they were supposed to do, or who was in charge of what, or where in limbo the decisions to fire people got made. That doesn’t make him incompetent, it makes him a Loyal Bushie. Unfortunately for Mr. Gonzales, his loyalty will never be reciprocated, because Bush will not support his followers at the last day but will walk across their corpses into history. |
