If you don't want to sit through a boring State of the Union address and are more interested in a unique and humorous take on the speech, tune in tonight as Dale Franks liveblogs the event (as he has the previous ones).

Trust me, you don't want to be drinking liquids when reading his version (well, unless it's a good beer or something). It might be hazardous to your monitor.

I was not even aware that the hour had come ’round again for the president’s address. You are a heartier man than I to be willing to subject yourself to a baffling prolonged farce of banal oration and insipid clapping. Given your attempts, futile as their targets invariably made them, to reason with the anarchist libertarians earlier this month and your commitment to watching the president’s speech, one nearly has reason to think that you are some sort of intellectual masochist!

In truth, I don’t like these ’state of the union addresses’ at all. I agree with Jefferson’s sentiment that they are too monarchical in character; a criticism that seems even more acute given the worrying ascent in power of the chief magistrate since his time.

For those who can’t hold their liquor, a shot for every time he tells the truth might work. Personally, I’m thinking of having a shot every time he lies, so I’ll be hammered before the 5 minute mark.
