Electoral Vote Counter Update

As an extra added service, I've revised the Electoral Vote Counter to show results from the 1992-2004 presidential elections. That should allow you to fool around with various scenarios from an easier starting point, and cut down on some inconvenient clicking.

I've also added a "Reset" button to help you start from scratch.

Is it wrong to see it as hopeful that the trend has been on the upswing for the R’s?

’92 = 168
’96 = 159
’00 = 271
’04 = 286

Also, I’m curious as to the effect Perot had on the Electoral votes in ’92 and ’96. Is there a simple analysis of how much he took from Bush and Dole?

Is it wrong to see it as hopeful that the trend has been on the upswing for the R’s?

Probably. When you extend the time back to the 1980s, you see massive landslides for Reagan and Bush I. What we’ve really seen is the Democratic votes solidify in the northeast an far west, to the point where there are about 248 solid Democratic electoral votes.

Moreover, Ohio, Florida, Virginia, and Nevada are getting increasingly purple.
