Random thoughts...
Apparently the citizens of Berkley are unaware that Marines are trained to "take land and hold it".
I don’t think the Code Pink demonstraters are going to be able to intimidate a marine - and given the neighborhood - it should weed out the weak potential recruits for the marines.
The marines should set up video survelance so that when they are assulted (verbal) and battered (physical) they have evidence for a court case to take money and freedom from the individuals involved.
I heard the recruiters are asking that the demonstrations occur on Friday afternoons so they can get out early for the weekend. (yes I know most recruiters work most weekends but it sounds good...)
If you don’t know someone’s sexual orientation how can you be discriminating based on sexual orientation? That’s the whole point of don’t ask don’t tell... someone should sue Berkley for discriminating against a non-discrimation policy.
:-) goodnight all |

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t the actual discrimination against homosexuals part of Title 10 of the US code? With the ’don’t ask, don’t tell’ being the DoDs implementation of how Congress has dictated they handle homosexuals in the military?
That has always been my understanding, so I have never figured out how these places can justify claiming the military is discriminatory without claiming that all Congressional programs are. |

That’s it. Screw the Army, I’m gonna get my DD 2-14 and go enlist in the Marines at the Berkley station.
Also, the military is exempted from several parts of US law (see any women SEALs? See any even getting accepted to training?)
F*ck Berkley. Let them try and roust the Devil Dogs. This should be entertaining...
But Dale’s idea is a good one too. Cut the SOBs off completely. |

You know, I went to my recruiting station once to do a test ASVAB, and one other time to do some paperwork, and they get most of their leads over the phone. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they are completely oblivious to this latest pronouncement by these self-righteous twits. If I were a recruiter, I’d just drive to the recruit’s home to get work done and ignore the protesters completely.

Yeah, sure you will. BTW, it’s 214, not 2-14. |

Although I disagree with the City Council’s policy, and consider it anti-American, I think it is up to the people of Berkley to change it.
The right to make bad/unpopular statements is a fundament of freedom; making popular statements usually needs no defense. The elected City Council is apparently correctly representing the people of the city, as they have been doing this kind of thing for a long time now.
I spent 20 years in the military defending our god-given rights; and that includes the defense of speech and actions with which I disagree. |

The Bush Administration should be asking the Federal Government to cut off all funds to any part of Berkeley. It won’t change the minds of those moonbats but it will make a statement every bit as loud as the one the Council just made.
Screw ’em! |

"Well, that’s more than one can say about Dale Franks in his sending of Steven Rhett to jail for ten years for a crime against no one."

"I see the protest as taking a proud and courageous stand." — PhoeBe sorgen, a member of the Berkeley Peace and Justice Commission Being opposed to the military isn’t exactly a courageous stance for a Berkely resident. It would have been news if she supported the military. |

OK. Then how about we cut off every penny of Federal funds that go into Berkeley? Including the University. *cough* Kent State *cough*
Alright, that’s too harsh but what a bunch of do*ches.... |

Hillary Clinton wants to be Command-n-Chief of the Armed Forces and she wants to be the best friend of Code Pink which is attacking the Marines, harassing a Marine recruiter at work and at home, and vandalizing federal property. Hillary Clinton, you can’t have it both ways, you cannot give a two-faced political answer, you have to choose. Where is your loyalty? Are you loyal to the military you want to command or Code Pink? |
