There’s a disturbance in the Force
Posted by: McQ on Wednesday, April 09, 2008

And it is being caused by a moonbat named Richard Warman, a Canadian and apparently a professional whiner when he's not suing someone. It would appear Mr. Warman is the most easily offended man in Canada and, having taken offense to something or other, has decided it would be fun to sue a group of conservative bloggers - ostensibly on some bogus "human rights" complaint - and shut them down.

One of them is Kathy Shaidle of Five Feet Of Fury. I only know of Kathy as a fellow guest blogger who shares weekend duty at John Hawkins Right Wing News.

But as a fellow blogger I can't ignore the fact that she is under attack by someone who appears bent on infringing on her freedom to speak out. Additionally, as if Ezra Levant hasn't had enough of this foolishness, he's also named in the suit, along with Kate McMillan of SmallDeadAnimals and FreeDominion.ca which is a site similar to Free Republic.

Politics or ideology aside, this is an intolerable attempt to stifle free speech and it shouldn't allowed to go unanswered. Go on over to Kathy's site and read up on it. If you're so inclined hit the donate button as regardless of how frivolous this law suit is, it's going to cost all of them money.

Help firmly plant the "American concept" of free speech on Canadian soil.

Oh, he’s not a whiner. From what I have been reading from Steyn and Levant (Ezra Levant’s blog is indespensable when it comes to matters of the Canadian Human Rights kangaroo Courts) this Warman scum uses these lawsuits as his personal ATM - and if he shuts down idealogical enemies in the process, well that’s probably a fun side effect of the whole thing.

The funny thing is that Warman has been behind 100% of the section 13.1 complaints and the HRC always gets a 100% conviction rate.

Not only that but when Warman lodges a complaint he goes to the HRC and then logs in to the investigators computers with their passwords to help run the investigation. North Korea would love to have that sort of capability.

As well, he works for the Canadian Dept of Defense as a complaints lawyer.

All the money he wins is not taxable and he makes a lot. Nice racket

You know, Canada does have a Canadian Charter of Rights.
2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
(a) freedom of conscience and religion;
(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
(c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
(d) freedom of association.

Perhaps it time to inform the HRC of it.

Better yet. Maybe the accused should counter-claim.

Neo,

They do know about it but they disaprove of it as an "American thing". Not only that, but it has no value to their world view. Glasnost and Erb would approve no doubt.

In fact, for an organization that is supposed to promote "human rights," the HRC’s agents seem curiously oblivious to basic aspects of constitutional law. In one famous exchange during the Lemire case, Steacy was asked "What value do you give freedom of speech when you investigate?" — to which he replied "Freedom of speech is an American concept, so I don’t give it any value." (I guess Section 2 has been excised from his copy of the Canadian Charter of Rights.)

Well Warman is suing for 50,000 which means he can avoid discovery as that is the cost limit. So basically, he can show up and say his piece at the trial and not have to give any discovery to the defese. Nice racket, isn’t it.

So did you hear that the UN HRC commissioner is a truther? It figures

I agree 100% with Joe.

People need to counter these things with equal reactions.

People on the right should sue and sue and make these kangaroo courts go after people on the left. It’s time to see the Canadian equiv. of daily Kos put on the rack.

Only then, will we see change.

I don’t know if you guys have read this, but Warman was on Lemire’s site (an Lemire is a nasty piece of work who I absolutely do not support, but his right to say things is a Libertarian ideal), posted a really racist comment about a sitting Canadian senator.

So then he makes a human rights complaint (his bank account must have been going low and he needed spending money) about his own comment. Now this may seem odd but when he made the comment he was sock puppeting and pretending to be someone else (by the way Warman is a member of Stormfront so he can post on their sites).

Anyway, Lemire, who was no computer slouch tracked the comment back to him and then outed him (much like some other well known lefty sock puppeteer). Mysteriously the CHRC complaint then suddenly vanished.

Anyway the convservative blogosphere started writing about that particular comment and the many interesting things about just how close Warman’s relationship with the investigative staff was. Because they pointed out his nasty racist comments (that he did indeed make), he is suing them for it. Strangely enough (no, not really), the left side of the sphere is giving him a lot excuses.

Only in Canada you say? I guess

They actually do, but the ideologues at CHRC refuse to take a single complaint.

In fact, when Lemire made a complaint about racist comments, the investigator said they could not accept it because it is was double sided even though it was faxed in, thus making it the first double sided fax machine in existence.

Too bad they don’t have a second amendment.
When your government won’t protect your rights, vigilantism begins to look like the only remedy.

well, the Canadian constitution does have a section on free speech but apparently the government employees don’t think it is important.

As well, in order to post racist messages for entrapping suspected er racists, the investigators hacked in the wireless access points of the local citizenry (thos not knowledgeable to lock down their AP) to do so.

So in one of the tribunals the local ISP was asked for the name of the individual who posted the racist message and it turned out to be a 26 year woman whose wireless AP was used by a HRC investigator. So the name was written up in one of the national newspapers and reporters camped out on her doorstep to ask her why that message was sent from her IP and what her connection to a neo nazi website was. Can you imagine the embarrassment of that situation? Imagine if she applies for a job and the prospective employer sees that. He may not believe her explanation.

So the big question is when are criminal charges going to be filed against the members of that department. I suspect, never. Can you imagine the outcry in the US if anything like this happened?

I notice the silence from the usual lefty suspects is deafening.

Mayhap we should make them think someone is upset about publishing a manual on, say, how to find, molest, kill, and dispose of the bodies of children for pedophiles. It usually drags them and the ACLU out from under their rocks to froth about "free speech."

Yeah, I saw that......well, if that’s how they want to roll, they’re gonna need strong gun control before it’s all over I guess.

I am not surprised. The left has no interest in free speech unless the speech is it is on their side.

A couple of moderate leftie blogs in Canada are worried about where this will lead, however, those farther left (which is everyone else) are very, very happy that "unapproved" modes of speech are now being properly controlled.

now you know why they are bringing in stronger gun control. If you are going to stop all free speech, then you better stop them ever being able to defend it.

I was reading an article about this at MacLean site and this particular passage jumped out at me.
he would pretend to be a hate sympathizer, joining chat rooms under monikers and posting friendly messages. "Keep up the good work Commander Schoep! 88," he once wrote to a putative ally under the name "Axetogrind." (The sign-off 88 is understood on white supremacist sites to mean "HH," or "Heil Hitler," H being the eighth letter of the alphabet.) Another note, posted under the name "Pogue Mahone,"
Pogue Mahone!! I hope that is an unpleasant coincidence because it would be very disappointing.
