The cops only do to us what we allow them to do. Don’t like persecution of the Mormons? Cut the funding for the jack-booted thugs. Expel those "law and order" politicians who, for the last several decades have ignored the Constitution and destroyed our civil liberties. The cops can be restricted to a far narrower role, but in order to get there, we must elect political representatives who will fiercely defend the Constitution, limit the intrusions of government into our lives and strictly limit the power of police agencies.
Next election, insist that every candidate clearly describe what he shall do to ENHANCE our liberty. |

WAH WAH cry me a river. where were those "superior" men when the women were on larry king crying for their children? why did they dodge every question about their husbands? where where the womens tears when they kicked out all the boys because of sexual competition from younger males. i saw that interview and it had the classic systems of Baghdad bob.
also complains from a military man about too much force? i know any time we went on ops you always prepare for the worst case scenario. im sorry all you law and order types all the sudden grew heart because of some crying ladies with husbands that sexually abuse their children? polygamy(sp?) is illegal in texas. what a joke that the right has come to the defense of these sexual predators. |

So...nobody thinks that the sheriff, an elected official, one of your fellow citizens, the cat next door with the nice rose bushes and the effed-up table saw...should NOT have an armored personnel carrier? Nobody realizes that sheriffs have different business than that, which never in 1,000,000 years, requires APCs?
The worst I can imagine a sheriff having to do is take down a damn meth lab, and if it takes an APC to do that, then they’re lazy SOBs. Personally, I expect more from those sucking on the public teat, though I’ve been proven a fool over and over on that score. |

how would you know what is required to complete the mission or not. you have no access to information if the flds were armed. and the that fact that you would unnecessarily risk the lives of you men by being under prepared makes me question if you were a competent army officer. if anything a leader knows is be prepared for the worst possible situation. that after the first round goes past your head all your plans and assumptions are out the window. |

Well heck Scott, if we want to go the pessimistic route, why not just give ’em a tank? They can hang the warrant on the end of the barrel and ram it through the front door.
How about, in cases like this, they attempt to gather a little intelligence first about the capability of the cult? Then, if needed, request appropriate support from police units which are capable of providing it, instead of buying an APC which they may marginally need once every other decade (but use all the time now because, well, uh, you know, they have one). |

What if those crazy religious fanatics had a few LAWs? One unarmed, obsolete APC wouldn’t even have made good target practice. It is reprehensible that the sheriff showed such irresponsible behavior in sending an unsupported and underarmed force into harms way. No air support? No prep fires or smoke? Criminal negligence! If the citizens of that county refuse to accept their responsibility to field an adequate combined arms force to enforce their local ordinances they should be placed under martial law. |
