Zimbabwe’s vote: It is taking weeks to rig the results
Posted by: McQ on Wednesday, April 23, 2008

But it appears as if Mugabe's minions have finally figured it out how to steal the last election:
President Robert Mugabe's party won in the first of 23 constituencies to complete a recount of votes from last month's general elections, Zimbabwe's state media said on Wednesday.

[...]

The MDC was initially declared to have taken 109 seats against 97 for ZANU-PF in the 210-seat chamber, but Mugabe's party will regain its majority if it can reverse the results in seven or more of the seats under review.
Anyone out there doubt the outcome of the remaining 22 constituencies? Of course all 22 won't see their outcome changed, but I'll take any bet out there that at least enough will turn to give Mugabe's ZANU-PF the majority again. Once they get the majority in the parliament, the rest is political child's play.

As has been noted many times, voting does not equal democracy. However it certainly is widely used to legitimize dictatorship. Hugo Chavez, I'm sure, is taking notes.

Since 2002 ZANU-PF has done any and everything to stay in power. So this is another day at the office for them. What we should all be concerned about is the Arms Vessel. One question that needs to be asked is what else what on that Ship that caused President Bush to issue that Executive Order.

As Stalin pointed out, the voters don’t decide elections, the people who count the votes decide elections.

Where is Chicago Mayor Daily the Elder or Lyndon Johnson when they are really needed? They are Masters at vote rigging. Zimbabwe’s President Mugabe needs all the help he can get. If he is unable to resurrect these old masters there are still their disciples available. James Carville, Paul Begalla and the rest of the Democrat operatives. (Remember Box 13 Duvale County, Texas and "Landside Lyndon)

As I understand it, Carter pulled strings as president to get Mugambe elected in the first place.

Sounds a bit like King Co WA in the 2004 governors race. Chicago was jealous.
