You gotta admit, though, that that would have been a really interesting set of debates to watch.

Probably done by someone with a degree in "communications", which means they are trained and qualified to effectively express their ignorance of a variety of subjects using a various different media . |

Dear Mr. McQuain: Frederick DOUGLASS might have a thing or two to say about spelling his name right.
Sincerely yours, Gregory Koster |

And the funny part is Fox is usually better than most of the other networks at fact checking. Certainly better than MSNBC. Oh, well, If it happened before you were born it’s not really important anyway right? |

I think this gaffe is worthy of an SNL sketch, with Lincoln arguing against slavery and Douglass arguing that it builds character. Or I suppose the two could legitimately debate over whether the union was worth saving if it could only be done at the expense of abolition. |

As you can see Stephen Douglas has a much paler complexion than does Frederick Douglass. Just look at the expression in the eyes of both Frederick and Stephen. Barring just about every other consideration you have to say those two were separated at birth... |

And the funny part is Fox is usually better than most of the other networks at fact checking. It’s happened before, and it will most likely happen again. And no I don’t think this proves Fox is necessarily racist, I think much like this latest slip, it’s just sloppy.
Cheers. |

I put this in the category of "you dumbsh*t" errors. Recently, a columnist in the L.A. Times stated Washington served only one term as President: same sort of error. Nothng nefarious, just sloppy writing and careless editting. |

This is right up there with
Marx and Lennon.
Just as a gedankenexperiment - I wonder what color the staffer was and whether the choice of Fredrick Douglass instead of Stephen Douglas was more of an innocent assumption than necessarily a blatent error.
Now, the ’editors’ well, no excuse there. |

I think both Douglass and Douglas got a hair thing going, too. Actually, color aside they are quite similar looking. |
