Now! Hampshire
Posted by: Jon Henke on Wednesday, May 07, 2008

New Media political consultant Patrick Hynes has just rolled out a new site, Now! Hampshire - essentially, a citizen media project asking "citizen[s] in the Granite State to take up their pens and note pads—along with the video and audio recorders—and start a news beat of their own."

He starts it up with an interview with Sen. Sununu and an interview with Gov. Jeanne Shaheen.

It's a very good idea. The democratization of the media is a valuable development and sites like Now! Hampshire have the potential to recreate the way we think about, consume and participate in the news.

In essence what is being suggested is not far from the model the left side / activist / anarchist types have put together worldwide in the network of indymedia sites.

Sort of a combination for their usage of spin thats in , common calendars and latest tactics to try.

The issue on our side is finding enough of a common ground approach of content by editorial review, not to make an echo chamber but more to not allow it to run off in 50 or more diverse directions.

Also when you have to generate content with depth and meaning instead of word processing macro merges of boiler plate it is a higher test to meet.
