I’ve considered the whole statistics thing concerning how slight majority among whites for Hillary and landslide majority among Blacks for Obama is proof of white racism.
My prediction is that West Virginia will be used to help build that story too. The message is will be made clear, elect Obama or you’re a racist.
I suspect the media is laying the groundwork to blame Racism in America for an Obama loss. It will be an attempt to morally invalidate the McCain Presidency like the Florida election debacle was for Bush. That invalidation lead the groundwork for multiple anti-Bush campaigns.
I think McCain is sensitive to attempt to connect his campaign to racism. However, in trying to personally distance himself from even the possible accusation of racism, he is reflexively throwing people under the bus and giving credibility to this view of America. |

Yet if St. Obama is the presumptive nominee, shouldn’t there be some sort of movement towards him? Bandwagon effect- is that what it’s called?
Once the "knockout punch" is delivered, shouldn’t there be some momentum towards him?
Bad sign for the general, or will this just be written off as racist backwoods hicks not voting for the black guy?
...either way, Hillary winning this is the same as the Confederacy winning the final skirmish of the Civil War... |

I would question the accuracy of the poll. It doesn’t jibe at all with what we have seen in other states. |

From the Census Bureau, stats for West VirginiaBlack persons, percent, 2006 (a) 3.3% White persons not Hispanic, percent, 2006 94.1% When you consider that these whites are not the college-educated, upper income variety that have gone for Obama, Bachelor’s degree or higher, pct of persons age 25+, 2000 14.8 Median household income, 2004 $33,993 Per capita money income, 1999 $16,477 this poll makes sense. |
