Well, Larry Johnson, ex-spook and Clinton backer, is warming up the Clinton stalwarts for the wrecking ball.
If such a tape exists, is Barack anywhere to be seen in the vicinity of Michelle?
Or is Johnson just starting a rumor? Or are his alleged GOP sources just starting a rumor?

Maybe she believes that she has stumbled upon, by accident really, a previously unknown vein of electoral gold: a coalition of lowbrow whites and aging feminists that the Clinton Machine could tap in the future. The problem is that if she is perceived by this new base to have folded prematurely against Obama they will not rally to her side in the future.
It would be ideal if she could create some face-saving defeat scenario that will allow her to convince the faithful that the nomination was "stolen" from her unjustly just as she was on the verge of coming back to victory.
Under such a scenario, Obama would be forced to make concessions to her (probably in the form of retiring her campaign debt) in her to get her help goading her half of the party grudgingly back onto Democratic bus for this election, and then she or the Machine’s chosen successor candidate, will be in good position for 2012 to rescue the party from the flaming wreckage of an Obama Presidency. |

Dick Morris says it is to do so much damage to Obama that McCain wins, and she can run again in 2012. Of course Morris is consumed with by his hatred of Hillary.
Personally, I think she thinks she can will at a brokered convention. She sees the same thing as most of us not under Obama’s spell see, namely that Barack has some serious flaws, and that he would, in fact lose in the general to McCain. |

4: She’s bucking for whatever she can get in terms of power... chips to call in, if you like. Chips that can be redeemed for a USSC appointment for herself of Bubba, for example. Etc, etc. There’s all kinds of senarios that come from this... she’s not likley to turn down any advanatge at this point.... even assuming she’s not able to eek out a brokered convention.
And Denver, right now is the source of that power. Think on it; At this point, and regardless what else happens, she still has roughly half the delegates... 2000 of 4000 people, in that hall in Denver, screaming for her, and still screaming at her bidding. That convention is all about image going forward. It sets the tone for the general election. If Obama wants to put a good front up in Denver, he’s got to deal with her to arrange it. What would be her price for that good front?

Why is this a mystery to anyone?
Hillary is an extremely driven, ambitious politician who wants to be president. While there is any chance to better her odds for that—now or later—she will stay in the race.
She’s already spent millions of dollars and years of her life in that pursuit. Staying in the race another few months is not a big deal. However, quitting the race now gets her nothing, unless she’s made a deal on her terms.
Ted Kennedy went all the way to the 1980 convention trailing 2:1 to Carter—far less than Hillary has now against the least prepared candidate in modern times, with bizarre radical connections never before seen in a presidential candidate, who just got whupped by 41% in a swing state.
There is no mystery here. |

My theory is that she wants to:
1) demonstrate that even though she has a snowball’s chance, she’s still winning votes, and ...
2) do as much damage to Obama as possible.
With a battered Obama, McCain wins the presidency with ease (not the worst thing that could happen to the country, from a pragmatic Democratic viewpoint) and in four years Clinton takes another swing at it. This time she’s the presumptive candidate, the one whom the Democrats "should have" chosen the first time around. Coming up against an incumbent, 76 year-old McCain, Hillary takes the presidency.
