Posted by: McQ on Sunday, June 15, 2008 An excellent article in the Wall Street Journal today by Kevin Helliker is also a beautiful tribute to his father. I have to admit, after reading it, and with obvious differences, I could have been reading about my own father. I was one of three boys, and my dad wanted us prepared to face the world. His stern discipline, born out of a depression and a war, was indeed done out of love and we all know and appreciate that. And like Mr. Helliker, as dad mellowed with age, and as we all grew older and did face the world, we came to understand and appreciate the immeasurable gift he had given us. I recommend Helliker's article to all. Happy Father's Day. |
