Climate Justice
Posted by: McQ on Friday, June 27, 2008

Of course you knew that the inevitable result of buying into the premise of AGW was going to be something called 'climate justice' didn't you:
Former UN secretary general Kofi Annan on Tuesday called for 'climate justice', saying that it was polluters who should pay for the effects of climate change, and not the poorest and most vulnerable.

He said funding should be made available to help disadvantaged communities adapt to the effects of global warming as he urged for the international community to focus on adaptation measures.

"We must have climate justice. As an international community, we must recognise that the polluter must pay and not the poor and vulnerable," said Annan at the first high-level meeting of his new humanitarian forum.
Unfortunately we have two presidential candidates who are likely to be amenable to this nonsense in some monetary form or another. And, of course, this form of "justice" will see every country but first world countries classified as "poor and vulnerable". That, of course, means that controlling pollution isn't the real purpose of this - redistribution of income is instead. While the first world taxes itself into economic oblivion, "the poor and vulnerable" will be polluting to their hearth's content and, most likely, having it subsidized by those paying the tax.

That's "justice" in today's world.

One of the few legislative initiatives currently being touted in the US Senate (a place he rarely attends anymore) by Obama is to give taxing authority to the UN.

But there is one way to look at this "climate justice" that doesn’t hurt ..
the providers, not the poor victimized users, of the oil should pay afterall they have all the money in the end so it only fair if there is to be redistribution of wealth. Fairs .. fair. (play Billy Jean theme music here)

SO next time the UN holds one of its climate conferences and every minor official takes a personal jet (as they did in Bali), we should wait for the conference to start then toss the lot in Gitmo where they belong.

damn hypocrites

Yes, we must have nice temperate climes for the UN personnel who sexually abuse people they’re supposed to protect!

Shouldn’t OPEC be required to buy "carbon credits" in order to sell their oil ?
