Is it "under the Obama bus" time for Wesley Clark?
Posted by: McQ on Monday, June 30, 2008

Got a chuckle out of Katherine Jean Lopez's advice to Obama, ala Rev. Wright, about the Wesley Clark quote:
Barack Obama should distance himself from efforts to dishonor McCain’s military service. Obama should be disappointed and saddened. This is not the Wesley Clark he knew. And he should drop Wesley Clark as an adviser. That would be general progress away from the paranoid style of American politics.
It is "under the bus" time for Wesley.

Why?

Because:
  • Obama: "We've got to get beyond the small politics ... the slash and burn politics that have become the custom in Washington." ("Obama Denounces 'Slash And Burn' Politics," The Associated Press, 2/19/07).
  • Obama: "We don't want the small, timid, slash and burn, negative campaigning of the past." (Josh Hafenbrack, "Obama Barack Obama Calls For New Political Spirit During South Florida Campaign Swing," [Fort Lauderdale, FL] Sun Sentinel, 3/26/07).
  • Obama: "I know that in Washington it is acceptable to say or do anything it takes to get elected, but I really don't think that is the kind of politics that is good for our party, and I don't think it is good for our country, and I think that the American people will reject it in this election." (Ben Smith, "Obama: Clinton Rewrites History," The Politico's "Ben Smith" Blog, www.politico.com, 1/13/08).

"But if it will get me into the White House, I’ll most certainly use that tactic... I mean, it is how I’ve won all my other elections..."

Do you actually believe any of those Obama quotes ? Grow up.

Wes Clark may be "sent to Coventry", but like Goolsbee (NAFTA & Canada), he will be forgiven when the time is right.

I guess I should have prefaced them with "for the irony impaired".

I think the Day by Day cartoon last week covered this:

And another one gone, another one gone, another one under the bus...

buenas dias amigos! i must’ve have missed the reply, but can a muchacho repost exactly how crashing a plane qualifies one for the presidency again? pedro would love to vote for john, but pedro isn’t sure if the john that’s for immigration reform, or the one who’s against it will be the one that shows up for the inagural ball. if you know which one will, can you tell me how you made that determination?

muchos gracias!

Well here Pedro, perhaps you can answer this question then:
But here’s a question: if the willingness to fight for your country, put your life on the line and suffer the brutality McCain suffered as a POW doesn’t make the cut as far as qualifications go, how far below that does a "community organizer" show up on the list of non-qualifications?

First off, it wasn’t crashed, it was shot out from under him in an area that was THE worst Anti-Air spots in the world.

Second, it isn’t his getting shot down that qualifies him, it’s his time as a commanding officer.

How’s that kool-aid?

Wesley Clark, super genius.

He’s going a great job of getting Republicans and others who really don’t like McCain all that much to get a chance to really embrace him over an experience for which Obama has no equal.

I’ll assume that Wes Clark will be relegated to one of those low level staff positions from which all the Obama gaffes seem to emanate.

It’s official .. an Obama spokesman sent out this brief statement as Obama was speaking:
"As he’s said many times before, Senator Obama honors and respects Senator McCain’s service, and, of course, he rejects yesterday’s statement by General Clark."
.. Wes Clark under the bus.

Here comes the beginning of that pivot on Iraq ..
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Monday, in a major speech on patriotism, criticized MoveOn.org for referring to Gen. David Petraeus as General Betray Us last year.
After the "FISA" sellout, how long before the "netroots" are in full revolt ?

Of course, if Odamma hadn’t cozied up to General Jack D. Ripper, he wouldn’t be in this mess. It looks like Clark will have to protect his precious bodily fluids on his own time from now on.

My interpretation of this Clark business is that Clark was sent out there to say that stuff about McCain on Sunday so that Obama could reject it on Monday. It’s the "magic bus" strategy. Once Obama’s public accepted that Grandma was expendable, what harm Wes Clark?

It’s probably the case that Clark didn’t know that be would be rejected the next day, but that he’ll accept being strung along with something like "we’re looking at you for DOD, Wes, if the VP thing doesn’t happen."

"Just get the power, Barack."

Oh, and the courage of criticizing the "Betray-us" ad nine months later, to show what a patriot he really is.

No political figure since Bill Clinton "saved the Constitution" by fighting his impeachment has shown such fortitude in defense of the country’s honor!

I wouldn’t doubt it. Obama combines the worst qualities of the Clintons and Carter in one loathsome package. The folks who "commended" him on breaking the Clintons should realize that there can always be a fouler option in politics. Barry simply out-Alinskyed and out-backstabbed the evil duo.

Exactly.

Remember that Hot Springs was where the Chicago mob went to vacation. It wasn’t exactly where the heavy action was. Obama went to Chicago precisely to get hooked into the big action. New York and L.A. are the big stages, but there’s too much light. Chicago is all shadows.
